“King for a day...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

I snuck away from GC for a solo weekend here. Bedding is rediculously comfortable. Shower is awesome and spacious. Room is spectacular with cathedral ceilings. I only hate that I made this trip alone during a business trip and not with my Wifey - whole city has romance potential. Need to bring her some day. As far as I can tell it is a brand new hotel and all rooms are on the same floor with very easy access. It does feel very new and modern for Antigua but ultra relaxed. Very picturesque setting with volcano in back ground landscape of hotel.

I did talk to some locals in Guatemala City who said: "hey. why would you stay at the Camino Real in Antigua when there is all of these neat boutique hotels in town?" Upon return I said: "L-U-X-U-R-Y". Likely, the best hotel I have have ever been to. Sevice is very good and feels very safe.

Did not try the restaraunt or breakfast. Next time: note to self, bring a date

“Bedding fit for Kings.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2012

Beautiful property, centrally located, vast rooms, superior bathrooms, excellent staff, incredible bedding.
On the minus side: dust on desk and lots under the bed, frustrating to pay extra for Internet, restaurant food does not match overall quality of this property.

“An Excellent Experience!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

I just spent this past Weekend at Camino Real Antigua and it was great. Friendly service, extremely confortable rooms (we want to buy a bed from them for our house), delicious food, luxury in every corner and incredible details (many many fountains and beautiful gardens). The shower was another great thing... Fully equipped gym, sauna, jacuzzi... the works! You can't go wrong with this one!!!

Room Tip: Rooms are virtually sound proof. There was a fountain in front of my room and with the window and do...

“Excellent hotel, definitely one of the best in the world!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

We have traveled all over the world and have staying in all types of hotels. This one is definitely one of the best we have stayed in. It's only 3 years old, so that definitely helps. The rooms are large and spacious with vaulted ceilings. The beds are fantastically comfortable and the bathrooms are exquisite. There are ample desks and chairs along with a mini bar which we stored our water in for the day. Yes, they charge for wi-fi, however, they allowed us to send a quick email home free of charge to let our family know we arrived safely. Great customer service!

The grounds are gorgeous, great for just hanging around and enjoying the afternoon. We enjoyed the hot tub which was warm and large for many people. We did not have anyone with us when ever we were in it and we stayed Fri/Sat/Sun.

The breakfast buffet was awesome, the food was excellent! We had some typical Guatemalan food, then utilized the crepes & waffles station and egg station as well. All was excellent. We also ordered chicken fingers for our 8 year old niece, and they came with fries for only $6. Very reasonably priced! The hotel is just minutes from the center. Definitely go down to Carlos's bar right next door and enjoy some cheap beer and excellent chips and guacamole and frijoles!

Room Tip: I don't think there's a bad room in the whole hotel!

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

We had such a great time here. The grounds are amazing, the rooms are clean, the service is above and beyond. ALSO, the beds are glorious. Better than the bed I have in my home. There are multiple desks in the room, and the showers are HOT! The in-room food is obviously over priced, but we did end up using the bottled water a few times so we were glad it was available.

The jacuzzi is hotter on the weekends than during the week, and they also turn off the fountains during the week. It's a logical thing to do from a business perspective, but be sure to catch the site at least one day on the weekends.
