“Traditional Style Hotel in Repurposed Colonial Era Home”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

Hotel Los Pasos is a small hotel that is in a converted Colonial Era home...so it has the charm and distinctiveness of that era...beautiful courtyards, rooftop terrace (with great views of the volcanoes), and classic colonial architecture. The downside is...it is a converted colonial era home...so the modern amenities are not as convenient as more recently designed and built hotels. We loved the quaintness and ambiance of the setting. The hotel is located about six blocks from the main square, so it takes about ten to fifteen minutes to walk there. There are really no restaurants in the immediate neighborhood, and the restaurant in the hotel appears to be open only sporadically for dinner. The breakfast room in the hotel is very nice, with colonial decor and architecture...a pleasant place for breakfast. We had breakfast on the rooftop terrace one morning...which is another pleasant option. We also noted that the water temperature in the shower was "warm" at best...but not a huge detriment to us. The service in the hotel was very "Central American" in pace...and could occasionally try your patience. However, that said, we really enjoyed our stay in this bastion of tranquility and tradition.

Room Tip: Rooms closest to the hot water heater/laudry room seemed to have the most/hottest water. Check with...

We loved our stay at the Los Pasos Hotel. The hotel is less than 10 minutes from the city center and the walk is not bad at all. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, even though the options were limited. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful garden with endemic plants and the roof top patio with the beautiful view of the volcano. Their dinner menu is very good, but they do not serve dinner every night. We felt very safe at the hotel and the surrounding area, and will definitely consider staying there again during a future visit.

Beautiful, quiet (except our neighbors kids) hotel, staff was friendly except the lady who didn't want to give me the room I've reserved and put us in a small one instead. In the end we stayed in the room we wanted. Everyone else was nice.

antigua is a place to walk everywhere, however the hotel is not that close if you are walking at night, most of the strreets heading towards the hotel are lonely and do not have many light! the hotel is really pretty, I stayed in a junior single bed room. eventhought it was quite small it was still pretty nice, however expensive for such a small place. (nevertheless it was a special price). the staff was very freindly and severved us late breakfast which was awsome, one of the best I have had in antigua when included in the room price.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

I had two double beds in my room for a single person and I had plenty of space. Bathroom was large and had robes and bottled water. The breakfast of fresh fruit and pancakes was tasty. There were several breakfast choices. My breakfast was served on upper terrace. The service I received was excellent and front receptionist spoke English which was helpful to me. I found this hotel spacious and comfortable. There was a birthday party in the restaurant that ran late and was quite loud. Sound carries. Staff did quiet them around 11p.m. Hotel is within walking distance of main square. I had no difficulty exploring and finding my way around town. I loved Antigua. I was here to attend a writing workshop at Lake Atitlan. The night at this hotel was part of our workshop fee so am not sure of the price paid. It was more than the $20 I paid for three other nights at a small b&b. But it was hugely nicer too!
