It was a pleasure to stay with Gail and Don, in their very relaxing, quintessentially Chilmark-ian, home. Their B&B caters to only two sets of guests at a time, so their attention to guests' needs can be reasonably focused. The breakfasts (we stayed for a weekend) were exceptional -- beautifully presented (in fact, memorably so) and delicious.
Our loft space was comfortable and uniquely appointed. We had the choice of using the large claw foot bath, or an outdoor shower (for those who like to live deliberately, and front only the essential facts of life). Situated right on one of the Vineyard's bus stops, this B&B's rural setting, large yard, outdoor deck, and mammoth acreage of conservation land directly across the street, are all big plusses (not to mention getting a highly-prized beach pass -- for free -- to the renown Lucy Vincent beach!).
Gail called us a few days beforehand to confirm that we had the information that we needed. Throughout our stay, both hosts ensured that we were informed about the island, able to get from here to there, and as comfortable as can be (something to be cherished by parents of a toddler). They also were gracious enough to offer our family a complimentary tour of the 'up-island' region, from Chilmark to Aquinnah, which made for a truly delightful afternoon.
We cannot recommend the Summersweet B&B experience highly enough!
