“Excellent, reasonable...a must go!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2011

We went several times during our stay in Nantucket. Great doughnuts! My favorite was the chocolate. Great omelets and the blueberry pancakes with homemade blueberry syrup...OMG!!!! Sooooo good!!! Miss this place already. Can't wait to go back.

“Nuts!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2011

We went to the Downyflake a few times for breakfast while on vacation the second week in June. The wait for a table was minimal, which is unusual as this is a very popular breakfast place. The service is friendly, and the food usually good. With some of the breakfast combos you can get either toast, a muffin or a donut (the donuts are made right on the premises, and are small, but a little piece of heaven - there is a front counter for the coffee and donuts only crowd, and they can also be boxed to take home). We were going to get a half dozen donuts on the way out, so we opted for muffins with our combos. Turns out they had nuts in them, which was not mentioned by the server when we asked what the available choices are.

Non of us are allergic, but one of my children really doesn't like nuts, so that was a dissappointment.

Other than that, it's a great place for breakfast or lunch.

“great for breakfast and lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2010

They don't serve dinner here, but the homemade baked goods will brighten any morning. I just went here today for lunch, and enjoyed some thick clam chowder that was as good as you can get anywhere, followed by a lobster roll that was bigger than I expected for less than $10, and came with a side of very good skin-on potato salad. My wife got an order ot delicious codfish cakes with baked beans, while daughter got a burger cooked to order. We all left happy, and for the cost of one entree at some other restaurants on this island.

“Donut LOVE!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2010

My family has been eating Downyflake donuts (plain, sugar or chocolate) for three generations and even though the restaurant has relocated the great donuts bring back memories of racing downtown in the morning to get a dozen donuts in our bike baskets. Get there early for hot donuts and you won't regret it. Take them home to your family and friends, or sit down and enjoy a hearty breakfast.
