“Charming Boutique Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2012

Vanessa Noel Hotel in Nantucket was a nice little boutique hotel; very European in feel. The room we had was small, and the girl offered to show us a room in the connecting Vanessa Green Hotel, which is an environmentally friendly hotel, but we opted for the smaller room. It was quaint, clean, smelled of the Hermes products which was so pleasant and the bed was extremely comfortable. The room was quiet and we had a good night’s rest. Vanessa Noel was there and she has a nice wine bar adjacent to the hotel and a shoe shop. As for price, Nantucket is pricey, so we considered the prices at this hotel reasonable. The location was excellent, a few blocks from the ferry terminal and close to all the shops and restaurants. We would stay here again and recommend it to anyone who likes boutique hotels. You do have to climb stairs.

If you are staying in VNH be prepared to bring with you all the little things you usually leave at home.We supposedly had a “luxury” suite, however, there is no bottled water in the room (not even for extra cost), no refrigerator, no cotton pads orq-tips available. There wasn’t even a bar of soap in the room! Tried calling the front desk… oops – these is no phone in the room. When all of these missing essentials were mentioned to the manager, she simply told usthat there is a pharmacy around the corner. The iron and the ironing boardhad to be requested at the front desk as well.Don't expect any sort of newspaper or room service morning coffee. The floors are crooked, the air conditioners are noisy but they definitely try to knock your socksoff with the Hermes soap bar (when one requests and actual bar), Frette bath robes and towels -all this “luxury” can be yours for only $850 a night!

Booked this through booking.com. When we arrived, the front desk guy laughed in our faces because we were staying in the flip flop room, the smallest room they had, really designed for one person. If they are going to pretend to be a hotel, they should try not to laugh at the poor suckers who throw away 400 dollars to stay in a room that's less than 100 square feet. My husband and I could not both stand in the room at the same time. The location is topnotch and we were able to enjoy Nantucket so much. It's a special special place. However, do not be seduced by frette sheets or Hermes bath products- definitely not worth it.

Room Tip: Avoid the flip flop room- beyond tiny!!

the hotel is charming; the staff is wonderful. yes the hotel is "expensive" (if you were in the "real" world) but when you are in Nantucket (which is definitely not anything like the real world), the rate is "in line" with other properties. I'll be honest, we really wanted to stay at The Cottages but that property was sold out; having now been to VNH, I can say the VNH's location on a quiet cobblestone street (tucked in between Center and Federal Streets) is superior. Close to the restaurants and a very short walk from the ferry (though even wheeled bags struggle with cobblestone streets).

the hotel also made all the arrangements for sailing lessons - including directions to the center; and made taxi arrangements when we went far afield of downtown.

we had the Mule Room and the Sling Back Room - 2nd floor. One was noticeably larger than the other but had a much smaller bathroom; both were bright and sunny, with terrific bedding! The Hermes (nice touch!) amenities in the bathroom were too fancy for my tastes but classy nonetheless.

We stayed at the VNH this past weekend. The location is excellent. Walk right off the ferry and across main street onto Chesnut and you are there. Was prefect for a weekend getaway. We walked to shops, walked to eat and rented bikes within 2 minutes from the hotel. It definately is expensive as you are paying for the location. The rooms are very average. We got Rm 1 which was a very average size room (Not hotel room size - this is a Historic house that is setup like a bed and breakfast). and a small nice bathroom. The only thing they need to do is fix the water stain on the ceiling, but that was not a big deal. Must of had a leak in the room above recently. Tough to paint in the busy season i am sure. We really enjoyed our stay in Nantucket.

I originally booked the Vanessa Noel Green Hotel, but the (private) bathroom was across the hall. I was moved to this hotel, and it is really lovely! As is common in hotels that are historic properties, the bedrooms are not a uniform size. The management was wonderful! Very responsive and super helpful. They tried very hard to make sure that I was happy, and I appreciate it!

Very nice staff (consisting of 2 people). First room assigned was #8. Loft room with sloping ceiling. Would hit my head when getting out of bed. No night table. Telephone on the floor. No air conditioning in this room! All for $480 plus taxes. Complained and after some arm twisting got room #2. Slightly better (normal ceiling and small a/c). Bathroom was tiny (smaller than the bathroom in my boat). They used a lot of mirrors to make it sem larger and the result was always hitting my head. (I'm not overly tall...5'11'). All this now for $520 plus taxes. OK...it's Nantucket...but Park Ave prices???? By the way, no elevator and stairs are very steep and have small steps...safety rope recommended. Sorry Vanessa but this is a stretch.
