“It's the Innkeeper that makes the difference...and she made this an outstanding experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

For those of you who have read my reviews in the past, I usually don't give five stars unless an experience blows me away. Well, the Centerboard Inn did just that. For anyone who has been to Nantucket, you already know there is no shortage of B&B's that are quite nice and usually a restored/updated whaling captain's house or something like that. So....how does one decide? For us, it is the innkeeper that makes all the difference in the world...and Debby Adams, the new innkeeper made, this a perfect stay. Having never met her before, she succeeded in making me feel like an old friend very quickly as she was incredibly kind, friendly and attentive to every detail. She even made my 6 year old daughter feel very welcome --and this is not something one sees on Nantucket very often. Last, it seemed like she was ALWAYS available and makes me wonder when (or if) she ever sleeps.

As far as the "breakfast" part of B&B, it can't be beat. Usually it was available earlier than was stated and was always delicious. In particular, Debby made fresh scones every day and the ham and cheese ones were mind blowing! There was also fruit, eggs, cereals and muffins that were freshly baked.

Concerning the "bed" part of B&B, the Inn was located in a great central location, the rooms were meticulous and tastefully decorated. Again, it is not difficult to find great rooms on the island but few that make one feel as at home or as comfortable as did the Centerboard.

Debby alone is enough to make the Centerboard your destination of choice and the location dose not hurt either. If you are traveling with small children, then you should not even consider any other other place as many of the B&Bs don't welcome children as a matter of policy and the rest of them just make you feel like it is policy.

Room Tip: They are all great rooms yet the ones on the higher floors may get less noise from the street.

We just stayed at the Centerboard Inn on Nantucket and were not disappointed. Not only was the service excellent, but the bed was so comfortable we didn't want to get up in the morning. Towels were so plush I wish I had them at my house. Never found this quality of linens in a hotel or B&B before. Wish I could have bought one of their fabulous beach towels they provide. Room #1, the King Suite, was the best with jacuzzi tub & separate shower, not to mention a LR with TV, fireplace and all the personal touches of home. The breakfast was great, and all the extra cookies, coffees, teas & fruits that were available 24/7 were much appreciated especially when I started getting a sore throat late in the evening and really needed some decaf hot tea (and there it was, hot and ready, whenever needed). We were as comfortable as if we were at home. And location, location, location, while in the downtown village area, it's perfectly located to not be in the noisy traffic, should I go on. If and when we ever return to Nantucket this will be the 1st place we check for availability.

Room Tip: Room #1, King Suite was fabulous for a romantic getaway or would be quite suitable for a couple with...

We spent two nights at the Centerboard Inn recently on our first trip to Nantucket celebrating a special family weekend! We stayed in room 6, which was lovely and very comfortable. The Centerboard is in a convenient location, and the innkeeper, Debbie, is remarkably sunny and thoughtful! She went over and above to answer our questions about the island and to provide an exceptional experience for us! She is an incredible baker, too. The scones and coffee cake....forget it! Melt in your mouth AMAZING. This place is a "Can't miss!"

My husband and I stayed two nights while attending a friend's wedding. the ferry got us in a little late and we were rushing to change and hike over to the festivities. the innkeeper insisted she drive us over so we were not late. those are the personal touches that were really appreciated. and the homemade coffee cake. We expected the furnishings and décor to be high end, but it was the service that really put it over the top.
We could get used to this.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my wife on a weekend getaway to Nantucket. Super comfortable bed and decent size room, good continental breakfast, and decent tea service. The inn has 5 rooms(one downstairs and the rest on the 2nd floor), we were in room 4.

Walking distance to main downtown area which was nice. We had a great weekend overall, some highlights too do in Nantucket that were our favorites:

Cisco Brewery
Millies(free shuttle from visitors center)
Great restaurants and bakeries(goto petticoat bakery everything is so good
Sailing or fishing

We recently returned from our first visit to Nantucket and the Centerboard Inn. I'll admit I was surprised when planning this three day special anniversary trip that lodging costs were so high on the island. But after much research, I chose the Centerboard Inn based on the positive reviews I read on-line. I'm glad I did. The Centerboard Inn met all my expectations and then some. The resident Innkeeper Debbie was a fabulous host and prepared delicious fresh baked goods for breakfast and afternoon tea everyday. She also surprised us with a wonderful bottle of wine to celebrate our special event. The covered porch provided a wonderful place to share that wine on a rainy afternoon. The room was spotlessly clean and the rain shower fixture had all the pressure you could want. Close to town, but just far enough away from the noise and hubbub.

This was our (three sisters celebrating a birthday) fifth visit to Nantucket and the best part of our visit was staying at this inn. The room was tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean with fresh smelling bedding and a bottle of wine awaiting us. Our room, The Houseboat Studio, had a separate entrance, off a patio area with table and chairs, that gave us the feeling of having our own little apartment. In the evening we enjoyed the gas fire pit that sits nestled in a cozy space beside the inn.

But the best part of staying at the Centerboard is Debbie Adams, the resident innkeeper. When we arrived early and couldn't get in our room yet, she treated us to freshly baked coconut cupcakes in the breakfast room. Nice!

Each breakfast was a true delight with such things as freshly baked cheddar scones, blueberry bread pudding, fresh fruits, granola, toast, etc. This is not your average B &B breakfast.

Debbie Adams is a truly lovely person who will go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and memorable. Whatever the owners are paying her----it's not enough! She is a gem!
