“Great inn with brilliant service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

My wife and I stayed for five nights and were really impressed by the inn which is 2 minutes from the harbour.
The inn is beautifully presented. Be warned, it is old and the floors slope considerably. For us, it added to the charm. Our room was a good size and with great decoration. The bathroom was small, but one needs to consider the design constraints in an old building, and it didn't detract from our enjoyment of the property.
Breakfasts are very good.
All the other guests were very friendly and this is always a positive when staying at a small property.
We had a room at the front of the property. We didn't find traffic noise to be a problem but it may be different in high season.
From booking through to departure the staff were excellent. They provided advice on travel arrangements, things to do and the concierge service was excellent.
Nantucket is a great island. We flew into Boston Logan then transferred with Cape Air who put us on an earlier flight than booked. You do not need a car on the island. Cycling is the best way to get about and there are plenty of hire shops. Taxis can be used if travelling any distance in the evening for dinner.
We came just after the end of the high season and I think this is the best time to come as it is likely to be too crowded when the island is at its busiest.
There are lots of things to do and our five nights seemed to last for ever because of the amount we managed to cram in.
The island is expensive. Be prepared for good quality London prices for accommodation and meals, but its worth it. We really want to return.

My husband and I stayed at the Union Street Inn very recently to celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary. The attention to detail, from the very first confirmation email I received to the help in packing up my husband's fishing rod upon departing, was incomparable. My husband and I have visited some of the top inns in the country and we put this in our top 5. The staff here is so accomodating. We've never come across a more genuine or helpful group -- EVER. The breakfasts are to die for and the rooms are cozy and luxurious. You are within walking distance to town so it's very convenient if you want to shop or visit one of the many fine restaurants in Nantucket. Did I mention the fantastic cookies and afternoon tea? They have thought of everything - no detail forgotten. Lots of other places cover everything but they don't do it well. That's what separates this inn from the rest. Visit Union Street Inn. You won't be disappointed.

We recently spent a night at the Union Street Inn in Nantucket. I highly recommend it. The hosts were very friendly and available to provide any help needed. The room was very comfortable and breakfast and afternoon snacks were delicious. The Inn was a short walk from the ferry and convenient to the downtown area. We will return.

Accommodations were superb. Reception was warm and sincere. They could not have been nicer. Room exceeded what one would expect with many nice touches. Ie. sitting room, two flat screen tv's, shower head to die for, remote controlled air cond., wet bar area, great breakfasts, and afternoon snacks. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 9 is wonderful.

Being a couple of France for their 35th anniversary, we spent a couple of days in Nantucket. One at the Union street Inn and one at the Sherburne inn(see our evaluation).
Extremely demanding on the quality of service, we have to recognize that Union street inn is a perfect ten! There is nothing that was missed out. From the moment you enter the inn and be taken care of by a very professional manager (Ryan) to the attention to details (oustanding historic room, yes we like uneven wooden floors!), exquisite taste overall, to the charming hospitality of Ken(the owner) and his passion about all the historic facts about Nantucket, everything was simply perfect not to mention the staff and the unique home made classy breakfast! We simply loved this place and should we have to come back, it will only be there!
Thank you so much for making our stay unforgetable!

I go to Nantucket with friends every summer for a long weekend and have typically stayed at another Inn. I was so happy to stumble upon the Union Street Inn for this trip. The location can't be beat with steps to all the shops, restaurants and the beach buses. Breakfast was delicious as well as the afternoon homemade treats. The only down side was the size of the room. It was very small compared to the other Inn that I have stayed at in the past. I know that there are some other rooms at Union that are a bit larger but when you are traveling with a friend it's nice to have some space. Overall, it was a fantastic stay and I will be back in the future.

Room Tip: If you can afford it spring for one of the suites that is bigger in size.

The room was lovely, the service was excellent, the breakfasts were delicious. The staff was friendly and gave us great ideas on what to do around town. Everything was relaxed and yet impeccable; ideal, unobtrusive service. We felt like guests in someone's really nice house on Nantucket. A great stay.
