Right up front: The Blind Pig is a bar in Athol, MA...so, if you're looking for a review of a toney, gourmet establishment, this isn't it. What it is, is a cozy, friendly, local pub with an eclectic and often changing list of beers on tap...lots of local brews...ciders and a menu of really good food. Husband and I are pretty much Friday night regulars, and a board of directors I serve on generally adjourns to the pub after our monthly meetings. The Pig menu offers interesting starters, sandwiches, soups, salads etc...and a couple of things they do are just plain better than the same thing elsewhere. The Pig bread...garlic bread with blue cheese...is fantastic. Other places do the same thing and it just isn't as good as the Pig's. And though sweet potato fries are everywhere these days, the Pig's are the best I have ever had. Anywhere. Don't know what they do (except cook them really thoroughly so they're not soggy and limp) but they are The Best!
The have good vegetarian options (love the mezze plate) and fantastic burgers. And, from time to time they have tasting events, or music nights, or other reasons to be sure to be there. So, thumbs (or should that be trotters) up to the pig. We're fans.
