“pristine and picturque enviroment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

Unspoilt, well maintained and cared for, the water was terrific, the different water colour was great, I never had time to do the glass bottem boats so saving that for next visit.

“Beautiful calm water for swimming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

Norfolk island's best beach; also used by the school for swimming lessons. Beautiful. Inside the reef so very sheltered and shark free! Add some jazz (December) in the background, a picnic basket, the shade of the Norfolk pines ... aaaah, so relaxing and a wonderful way to spend a few hours.

“A HIDDEN HEALING HAVEN”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

From the aircraft looking down, it beckons like some siren from ancient times; a special place to visit whatever the time of the year. This crescent of soft sand and azure water is bookended with a pine tree ostensibly recorded by the explorer Allan Cunningham and the salthouse which has been a defining image of Norfolk Island for many years. Look seaward and you catch Nepean Island out of the corner of your eye and the technicolour cliffs of Phillip Island some 4 miles away.

Visit Emily Bay in Summer and be rewarded by the cooling (some might even say cold) water; water said to be healing because of the minerals leeching from the adjacent cliffs. There is that re-assurance that the nearby reef protects you from most maritime nasties (as an excursion in a coral viewing boat will reveal).

There is a floating pontoon (a great place to swim to) and ample change sheds and picnic benches are nearby. After time spent hiking the 100 Acre Reserve or walking the ruins around Kingston or, even shopping; there is nothing more invigorating than a swim in Emily Bay.
