Wyndham Andover is so incredibly easy to get to. It's right off both i-93 and i-495. River Rd is short, but the hotel is situated at the verrrrrrrry end of the road. It's a little scary at nighttime (because there's little to no lighting), but so easy peasy to get to.
Upon arriving, you wouldn't tell when walking in, but this is one of the most cost efficient hotels in the area. Its entrance very elegantly decorated with modern touches- the large flat screens with weather, news, game is very helpful. My now-husband and I were coming in from Connecticut got married over the weekend in North End Boston. We knew we'd be in early and asked for an early check-in at 10:30. We were met with no grief or attitude and the attendant made the process so extremely pain-free and easy.
Our room was a way's away over in a quiet corner of the hotel (all the better) that looked like it hadn't been updated since the 70s... but its upkeep was commendable. Nothing looked dirty or unpolished. Housekeepers were always in the hall while C and I walked in and out throughout the morning and late evening. We booked a king room which was good in size. Immediately to the right was the sink/vanity area and coat closet and further in was the shower, etc. The closed-in bathroom area was very decently sized- it was much larger than I expected. Past the itty bitty hall and bathroom quarters was a bed and across from that was the decent-sized flat screen TV. Further in was the little sitting area and desk to write. The windows were really large and we had a lovely view of the courtyard. I was excited to see the staff starting to put up winter lights! We barely heard our neighbors (if we had any at all) and that added to the blissful, relaxing time we intended to have while staying in Andover.
Overall, pretty average to say the least, but definitely nicer than most of the hotels in northeastern Mass. Let me put it this way, if I wanted to stay in the city and book a five star suite at the Fairmont, I would've. Staying in Andover, I merely expected a comfortable stay with no fuss- and that's what I got! My H and I will definitely come back when we want to get away from (my) family! Haha.
