I really enjoyed the atmosphere in this place and the service was excellent. The food, on the other hand, was not that good. I went to this restaurant for a department dinner and thank goodness it was the college that paid! I would have regretted paying for it! First of all, I found the menu to to very limited. I asked the waitress about this and she was lovely explaining that it changed seasonal. Even so, it felt like they could have had more options. My main course was the most tasteless pork I have ever had! It was also little more than fat as the proportion of meat to fat was terrible. It was so very, very bland. The food that accompanied the pork was average. I will say, however, that my appetizer was very good. I had frog legs. The taste was satisfying, but subtle--something I appreciate as some Amherst restaurants have tendency to over-spice their food. I also tried some of my friends escargot appetizer and that was good as well. The dessert was good, but then again it is hard to screw up something as delicious as chocolate moose. I've also heard from a couple of people that their fish is pretty avaerage.
