“These people don't even know they're doing a bad job....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

A beautiful setting for a terribly run restaurant. We had brunch there today to celebrate my Dad's seventy fifth birthday, a party of ten. The dining room was about a quarter full. We were seated promptly, but then pretty much ignored. Randomly people would stop by and offer some of us coffee, but not everyone. Finally we identified who our server was, and she took our order. It wasn't that she wasn't nice, she just wasn't there. Our food took over an hour. It was okay, but certainly not worth the time or money. My sister called from California to order a cake, was told there was no reservation under that name, the one we were seated under, and could not order a cake. Just a stupid way to do business.

Thank you for taking the time to offer feedback on your recent visit to 30Boltwood. We appreciate positive raves and constructive criticisms, as feedback in any form, helps us learn from our mistakes and teaches us how to better serve our guests.

In regards to your particular experience, the main dining room may have looked only half full, but one of our private dining rooms was full with another larger party. With new staff working that day, we should have anticipated delayed operations as to not have our guests suffer any consequences. While it is not an excuse, I do want you to know we are working on more thorough training for our newer staff members, as well as ensuring that our managers are on hand to offer additional support. Our goal being to off outstanding service and high quality food to all of our guests and to prevent situations like you experienced from occurring again.

I do want to thank you for choosing to celebrate your family’s special occasion at 30Boltwood and The Lord Jeffery Inn; I also want to apologize for not meeting your dining expectations. I sincerely hope that we will have the opportunity to serve you again in the near future.

Best,
Amanda Malone, Catering Sales Manager & Tom Cannizaro, Food & Beverage Director

“Boring Breakfast in a lovely Setting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The setting is quite grand but the breakfast menu was quite limited and expensive for what it was. The bacon was tasteless, the potatoes dried out and the over easy eggs like leaden hard boiled weights. Even the toast was not really toasted - just smeared with too much butter and my latte was tasteless. But the service was eager and they refilled my latte with standard coffee for free while I waited for my delayed airport shuttle.

“Avoid”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

Sadly, this new restaurant is a disappointment. Their understanding of French cuisine stops at meagre portions and high prices. One leaves the table with the impression that the foie gras came from a goose that had been fed salt, not corn or walnuts. Again, unless the celery grew in Dead Sea, it just can't be allowed to be that salty. Chocolate cake is not supposed to be a glorified brownie. If a portion of lamb is just 3 oz, it better be good (but it's not).

We apologize for the disappointment you felt with our menu offerings. Our goal at 30Boltwood is to present local products, simply prepared, as to enhance the natural flavors of the product itself. The idea behind the prix fixe menu for New Year’s Eve was to offer a full variety of items in tasting portions to suit the discerning palate. We apologize that the offerings did not meet your expectations on this occasion. With your feedback, we are able to make changes and adjustments to keep the pace of the changing needs of our guests.

We value your feedback, and we welcome the opportunity to have you back again to change your impression of 30Boltwood. We’ll look forward to your next visit.

“Delicious meal in a beautiful setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

I recently had lunch with a colleague in this beautiful inn located on the Amherst, MA common. The restaurant is attached to the Lord Jeff Inn (where lovely accommodations are available). Our food was beautifully presented and the cream of cauliflower and potato soup was amazing! I had the open-faced turkey sandwich with fresh herbs and apples served over sour dough bread. I can't wait to return for dinner. The restaurant is tastefully decorated with a Pottery Barn appearance. An excellent choice with the wonderful downtown Amherst to explore afterwards.

“Disappointed.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

The ambiance at this restaurant is wonderful, The "greenhouse" room is lovely & private. We had no complaints with the physical aspects of the restaurant. However, we reserved the special greenhouse room for a 6:00pm dinner for 20 people and when we arrived were asked to wait for an hour before they could seat us because the folks who had the room before us were still eating!!! But the hostess claimed it was not their fault since the party before them had arrived 30 minutes late and thrown off the whole schedule. Our food was sparse but very nicely presented and tasted ok - nothing outstanding. i think perhaps making us wait left a bad taste in our mouths...
