“Clean and convenient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2011

Like many, I'm sure, who stay here, I am a parent of a potential UMass student and stayed here while we were touring the campus. We chose the hotel for its convenience, which obviously could not be beat for our purposes. As others have written, accessibilty to the hotel is a bit strange. It cannot be viewed from any exterior location, rather it is located inside a building that houses the campus student union, bookstore, and a food court. The entrance through the confusing parking garage makes one skeptical as to what to expect once inside.
With that said, everything else was satisfactory. While the extent of the hotel lobby is nothing more than a front desk and a few couches near the elevator bank, the staff was accommodating. I believe that they are students who are employed as part of their work study program at the university, so they are anxious to help (although I perceived them, as a result, to be a bit unpolished.)
The room was clean and comfortable. It had modern amenities including a wall-mounted flatscreen tv, I-Pod dock, ethernet cable for our laptop, and a comtemporary bathroom. (no tub; rather a glass-enclosed shower)
The continental breakfast consisted of a nice assortment of baked goods, fruit, cereal, and coffee. My only complaint is that the eating area was quite small, only a handful of tables in a very tight space. As a result, I felt cramped, and like my every mouthful could be viewed by all.
All things considered,my two-night stay was enjoyable and I would stay here again if I were visiting campus. It is clean and modern and has all the basics covered.

This is a very nice hotel on the UMass Amherst campus. The rooms are beautiful, very quiet, and comfortable. There's a basic continental breakfast that's adequate.

It's damn near impossible to find, however. I'm not sure I've ever seen such poor signage. To get to the hotel, you need to go into the parking garage, go down a level or two, park, walk through a section of the campus center that feels like a bus station, and then take the elevators up a floor to the hotel reception area. And you have to do all of this pretty much without any significant signage. It's a miracle that guests actually make it to the hotel.

Hadn't stayed here in years - returned to campus to meet friends and attend hockey game at Mullens Center (great game and nice facility by the way). The hotel wildly exceeded expectations on two fronts:

1) Quality of the room/decor/bed/bedding and really clean - must have been redone recently

2) It was remarkably quiet - I was expecting partying students and Alums but to my great surprise you could have heard a pin drop all night - not sure it this isthe case every weekend?

On weekends dining options are a bit limited (Blue Wall), and the lounge is not open on weekends - so be advised/plan accordingly.

Parking is convenient and free as well

We spent the night before an all day college visit with our daughter. The room decor was crisp and modern and the bathroom was as nicely finished as well. The overall effect made for a very pleasant stay and was a nice introduction to the to the UMass experience. The breakfast was basic fare, but adequate. We considered the Hotel a very good value.

Our room was attractive. We especially liked the flat-screen TV mounted on the wall. But the supplied ethernet cable didn't work for us—neither did the replacement we were given at the front desk—so my husband was without Internet service during our one-night stay. Also, we couldn't turn down the heat in our room, which was blasting away; we had to open the window to sleep. There was a happy ending, though. We talked with the hotel staff the next day, everyone was both nice and apologetic, and our bill was adjusted. We will certainly stay there again. I really appreciate that level of responsiveness.

This was our second trip and we love it! Very clean, front desk is very friendly and helpful. Rooms are so clean and very modern, you can tell they put in a lot of work to keep it in good condition. Makes it pleasant for visits to UMASS, Amherst if you have a child there or just to visit the college, it is so convenient and is always quiet too!
