“Not too.bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2012 via mobile

For a mountain top eatery this is not too bad. The have a couple of staples.such as hot dogs, burgers, and backed goods. The sand which as surprisingly decent. Don't expect top of the line, but you will be satisfied with what you order

“Minimal Grille”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

I was told this place is great restaurant after you hike the Greylock. It's merely a small Canteen. The views are ok but nothing special. We were anticipating a nice clean sit down place but this was a lodge style place.

“Great food, historic lodge and what a view!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2012

We visited Mt. Greylock and were pleasantly surprised to discover this beautiful lodge with a breathtaking view! The food was very good--we had BLTs and Pulled Pork sandwiches!
Well worth stopping here for a meal and enjoying the scenery!

“Great place to have lunch and take a break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2011

Basic food but nice and cosy. Aim for the seats by the window if they're not already taken...

“Unique Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2011

Mt. Greylock is always on our list of things to do when going to the Berkshires. The view from the Summit alone is specatular, but we were always curious about the Bascom Lodge at the Summit. The one time we did poke our heads in there was a wedding taking place -- so before our next trip we called to see if they were talking reservations at their small restaurant inside. The person on the other end was very helpful, explaining that we were visiting on the one weekend that they had open for dinner. Otherwise, during the week was our best bet. The menu is fixed, as is the price, so it's best to go on line and check out the menu. They usually post a week prior. The Summit is closed after October, so planning is a must. We were also told to make sure we made it to the "sunset hour" to enjoy the view from the porch with a glass of wine or beer which they had a small, but lovely selection of. Essentially, you are with a bunch of strangers during this time - unless you have your own large group - so be prepared to mingle, if that's your thing. Dinner has one seating, 7 p.m. prompt. You are called to the small, rustic dining room and seated according to the space available and size of your group. You are seated family style. We weren't prepared for that, but we were pleasantly surprised at how easy dinner conversation was with 4- 6 other strangers at our table. The hostess/waitress/server/check out person was busy, busy, but was so incredibly happy and lovely. We had a direct view of our dinner being prepared in the small kitchen. The coffee was plentiful in a help-yourself type service and the water was always present at the table in fun, colorful, fiesta-pottery pitchers. The menu was fixed, so again, make sure you look on-line before you go. We were surpised that we had an option that evening, but stuck with the salmon, rissoto and greenbeans and salad. DE-licious! Literally from the fire to the table. Dessert was homemade -- key lime mousse and homemade sugar cookies. All of our table/dinner guests hiked to the Summit that day (5 hours) and were staying overnight at the Lodge, which also has accomodations we found out. We were probably the only people that actually drove to the Summit and left after dinner. The ONLY downside to this was that there was no lighting outside from the Lodge to the parking lot. In the summer time I'm sure that's not an issue. It's a good thing we knew our way and it was a starry night - which also added to the ambiance! Lovely experience.
