In October, 2008 I was in Annapolis for a business conference. We stayed at the Annapolis Westin on Westgate Circle. It is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location.
From the hotel you can walk to the harbor fairly easily, but the hotel has a complimentary shuttle.
Although Phillips is the renknow restaurant, in my opinion their food and service was overshadowed by a fun and funky restaurant named Jerry's. Jerry's is close to the Westin and is home to the "Crab Bomb" a 14oz crab cake. My favorite was their crab balls and crab fondue. In Maryland eat all the crab you can hold - it's fresh, delicious and cooked by people that know what they're doing.
The harbor tours at $10.00 a person are by far the best value and a great way to see everything. The trolley tour was ok, but much pricer at $18.00 a head.
If you are a history lover, you're going to be in Heaven in Annapolis. Don't miss going to some of the historic homes and the Naval Academy if you can help it.
There's something for everyone in Annapolis. Lot's of trendy shops and specialty stores including Hats in the Belfrey for any type of hat you could ever want and one of the cutest (and most expensive) pet boutiques I have ever seen. Annapolis is home to some of the pricest boat shows in the world, and some of the shops are catering to that crowd, however there are tons and tons of little souvenier shops. If you want oyster knives to take home buy them at the Ace Hardware by the harbor visitor's center - they are much cheaper there!
I will post some pictures soon. This is a place I would definitely go back too, just because I really only had 2 days to see it.
