“Fabulous Stay from check in to check out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

When travelling I usually would prefer a B&B or Inn, but this time around decided to go with the Loews Hotel, due to a great rate and locatioin. We drove straight to the hotel parking and the woman parking attendant greeted us with a smile and was so nice. She gave us a card with the hotel phone number for shuttle service and also advised they had little jitney's that worked soley on gratuities. We took the elevator to the lobby and checked in. Brittany was wonderful. Check in was fast AND accurate. I requested early check in and a room in a quiet area and everything was in order (we arrived about 1:30pm). Brittany gave us a map of Annapolis and advised us of their shuttle service and jittney service as well. There is also a Free Trolley running up and down the streets. She mentioned the hotel restaurant, West, as well as several others and circled them on the map.
We were on the fourth floor and the room was a Deluxe Double. I'd swear those beds were queen size! Everything was immaculate. It was perfect. The bed was so wonderfully comfortable (I slept 45 minutes longer than usual!). Even though our room faced the street, there was no noise of any kind.
My husband and I decided to have a late lunch and started walking up the street to one of the suggested restaurants. Then we decided to go back to the hotel and try their restaurant, West. OMG!! It was the right choice.
To sum it up....EAT THERE! Don't miss out! We each had the Rockfish...to die for. This Chef....ROCKS! My only regret was NOT taking the advice of our great waitress, Lynn. She suggested splitting one entree and trying a couple appetizers. That's what you should do.
Dessert...I had the Zeppoles and asked if they had half portions. Lynn said no problem. WOW! When do you ever hear that in a restaurant?? And if you are wondering...we were only charged half!!! What planet are we on? Such excellent service and customer service.
After lunch, we took a jittney to downtown and walked around there for a couple hours.
We caught the early show at the Rams Head Tavern (who suggested the Loews hotel to us).
After the show, though we were not hungry, it was just such a beautiful night, we decided to go back to the hotel restaurant WEST and have a drink and try a couple of Tastes/Appetizers. We sat outside and I had the Lobster Sliders and my husband had the Crabcakes. OMG!!! AGAIN!! The food is way too special to pass up. YOU MUST DINE AT WEST.
This morning upon checking out, a lovely Michelle handed me my receipt. Everything was correct....not a glitch.
This was a great overnight stay. I will definately stay at another Loews hotel next time we travel and see if it comes any where near how wonderful this stay was.
If anyone experiences something bad or negative at this hotel, it's the guest...not this hotel.
This is now our hotel of choice for all future visits back to Annapolis.

Wow!! Thank you!

When we remodeled our hotel, we decided we really needed to transform it! We needed to take advantage of the great presence on West Street and create a restaurant concept that was more of a community gathering place rather than a hotel restaurant. We wanted to have a cool environment, with excellent food sourced locally and "intelligent service". We've been open for 28 days and by all accounts have nailed it! There's always work to be done and we will continue to fine tune things...but, it makes us really happy to hear the vision coming to life through our guests!!

Thank you!

The lobby has had a complete makeover and it's very nice. The hotel staff was very to us accommodating when we arrived late at night. They brought us a rollaway bed right away for our oldest (our kids were with us, 3). At the front desk, the man gave us 2 complimentary drinks at the bar! Once we got settled into our room, my husband went down to the bar and I received a free glass of wine (cost $12 per glass) and he got a bourbon...again free. It was unexpected but again so nice of them to do since it was a long day/night for us! The beds were wonderful, very comfortable! I do wish they offered rooms with 2 queens or 1 double with 1 queen, the 2 doubles are too small especially when my husband is 6'3 tall!! One suggestion I would give to the hotel is to have a 24 hour snack kiosk or vending machine because the 7-11 across the street is not open 24 hrs and the bar stopped serving food. Our youngest child was starving and there was nothing to get her! But all in all, it's a great hotel and our 2nd time staying there! Good location too, once you arrive you do not need to drive into the heart of Annapolis just walk! PS. we priceline.com the room and got it for $90 a night!

Room Tip: Use priceline.com and name your own price. we stayed during the week and got it for $90.00 can't...

The positive part of this stay was the fine new restaurant which has opened in the hotel. The wait staff was courteous, professional and friendly. The highlight.. of our several day stay in the hotel... was the breakfasts and lunches which we enjoyed in the restaurant. The food was delicious and well presented. I highly recommend the seafood platter and their salad selections for lunch. Breakfasts include seafood selections which are wonderful!

The negative part of this stay involved some issues pertaining to communication between the housekeeping staff and the front desk. When we opened the door to the room...it was uncleaned and a bit of a disaster. This type of situation certainly did not speak well of those who were previously in the room. Unfortunately, former guests had also done a fine number on the couch and we felt uncomfortable with sitting on it. To the hotel's credit, there was adjustment made on the first night's charge. I feel certain that the hotel's management will address the issues which were brought to their attention.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. The WEST Kitchen & Tavern has been an instant success and so pleased to hear you enjoyed several visits to the restaurant. As for the condition in which you found your room, there is no excuse and I sincerely regret the miscommunication between the front desk and housekeeping. You should never have been given access to the room before it was properly prepared as this is not indicative to the level of cleanliness we strive to provide.

We arrived without reservations on a Sunday afternoon. The front desk staff showed us a nice suite -their only available room. The room had a separate bedroom and large living room with TV. The coffee makers were a hit with my room mate. The beds were soft with excellent linens. The gym was very well equipped and modern. Unfortunately we had to move to a standard room after 3 days but the staff were very accommodating with the move. Free breakfast came with second room. Walking distance to downtown harbor area.

We recently stayed in the Annapolis Loews Hotel, August 2012. It was great!

The imported mosaic tile work of art was a spectacular backdrop to the front desk.
Unique double sailing rope macrames created an impressive and welcoming lobby. All hotel staff were neatly dressed and pleasantly interested in helping us.
Upon arrival the Bellman was quick to help us unload our luggage. A warm welcome by the Manager and quick registration by the Front desk clerk made us feel at home and we were able to check in early. Our suite was clean and spacious.
The town shuttle was convienient and came in handy to go into town or get a ride back.
Our shower was great. The room was stocked with the towels, glasses, coffee maker, coffee and cups The pillows were fluffy and the mattress comfortable. I could've stayed another night or two!

Room Tip: Our room was great. The hotel accepts AAA membership discounts. Check for your membership groups.

Thank you for staying with us and posting your review. The mosaic is very impressive. It was created in Italy and shipped over only to be reassembled and installed. There are over 275,000 3/8" glass tiles that form the ship's mast. Come back and see us again!!

My wife & I stayed in Annapolis for the night in April to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. The staff was pleasant AND apologetic. That's because there was construction INSIDE the hotel. Part of the lobby was closed off and design plans were prominently displayed near the reception desk to show how the hotel will look once the project reaches completion. It would've been nice if we knew all this was taking place before we made the reservation. I think hotels should alert travelers and/or travel sites if they have ongoing construction on the premises. True, customers would go elsewhere. But customers, like me, would've also appreciated the honesty. And I would've given the hotel a try in the future. Overall, our stay was fine. Nothing memorable except for the construction and the fact that our marriage can overcome such challenges.

Thank you for taking the time to comment on your recent stay. We certainly had every intention of advising our guests of the extensive renovation that was occurring at the hotel. Despite our efforts, you were not made aware and that is truly regrettable. Our renovation is now complete and we would love to invite you back to enjoy the terrific atmosphere and our brand new restaurant; WEST Kitchen & Tavern. We look forward to regaining your confidence on your next visit.

We were able to get a great price (112) for a good room at Loews Annapolis.
Likes: 4th floor or higher. ice water and carbonated cranberry juice. free jitney bus around town. Very helpful staff w/maps. Close to Ramshead (Pat Metheny).
Dislikes : Parking fees; low water pressure; difficulty keeping room cold.

I would stay there again if I got a good price.

Room Tip: use the shuttle service . Talk to staff and get a map.
