“Historic AND Clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

I live in the Annapolis area, so never considered the Historic Inns, but stayed the weekend for a wedding. I had for years assumed the Historic Inns were nice, but because they were historic, were probably not updated or comparable to a modern room. I was completely amazed at how the historic feel and modern amenities were all provided. Plus, the rooms were very clean and the staff from the valet to housekeeping were extremely attentive and friendly. I will always recommend to out of town visitors that they consider the Governor Calvert House!!

Room Tip: The Governor House has both modern and period rooms. Both types are great, but if you want the hist...

Dear D M:

Thank you for posting your feedback on Trip Advisor. I was so happy you discovered the “hidden gem” in the downtown Annapolis that is the Historic Inns of Annapolis. I am proud of the effort expended by our team and appreciative that you recognized and commented on the cleanliness and quality of service.

We appreciate your business and hope you will come see us again soon for a “getaway.”

We recently stayed at the Governor Calvert House. Parts of the experience were wonderful but others were not. The beds are very comfortable but the sitting area in our room according to pictures on their website should have 2 comfortable chairs for reading. We had only one but were assured by the front desk that not every room was the same. I still wonder why we had one wing chair in one corner and one reading lamp in the other. If we were only going to be overnight I wouldn't find it an inconvenience but we stayed for 4 nights. They also managed to mess up our checking in so we were going to be charged twice for the same stay. Barring that the location is great, everything is within easy walking distance and there are many great restaurants. You can park your car and forget it.

I have traveled for business and pleasure to many states and have stayed in a wide variety of hotels in my travels. This property is one of the best places that I have stayed. The room was clean and I don't every recall a place where everyone went out of their way to make sure our needs were being met.
The property is absolutely beautiful. It is like taken a step back into time and history with all of the modern conveniences of home. All of the buildings were downtown and we never needed a vehicle to be able to enjoy all of the fun things the city of Annapolis has to offer. I would recommend this property to anyone that is planning a vacation or business trip to the area. The room rates are comparable to other brand name chains but you will NEVER find the beauty and charm that this property has in store for it's guest.

What an outstanding hotel; close to everything, service fit for a king and queen by knowledgeable and personable staff, excellent food , and accommodations that are impeccable. If you want to really see and experience Annapolis, this is the place to stay! This was a perfect place to enjoy Annapolis with friends and family from start to finish. You will NOT be disappointed.

Room Tip: Rooms are decorated in period furnishings and it would be difficulty to have one that is not comfort...

We really enjoyed our stay at the Governor Calvert Inn. It was a very short stay for us. The employees were very nice and friendly. The Valet attendant was there for us as we rolled in at 10:00 at night with a smile on ready to help us. We appreciated it! He also let us know that we could park about a cars length ahead for free all night long without a charge! We were delighted! The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: The AC was a bit noisy, but it didn't bother us. We had a king bed and it was very comfortable.

We absolutely loved the Governor Calvert Inn in Annapolis, MD. The room was excellent, the staff was very friendly and courteous and they provided good restaurant recommendations during our 3 night stay.

However, when we got home we noticed that there was about 5" of 'curb' damage done to the right rear wheel on our new 2013 Explorer as well as a 6" long scratch on the rear passenger door. Apparently the valet driver backed into the substantial curbing directly in front of the Inn when retrieving our vehicle for our departure. I did not notice the damage as the wheel was close - but not touching the curb. Too bad as I should have seen it and mentioned it before we left.

1st rate experience. From the valet (Zach) to the Front Desk staff to the Manager, everyone was very friendly, warm and welcoming. We were there for our Wedding. I had requested for some champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to be in the room when we arrived. The Chef made special chocolate covered strawberries for us, which were amazing. I had also arranged for Michael Design Florist to deliver a dozen roses. The Front desk made sure upon our arrival that all the items were in the room. They took extra care with everything and it turned out to be a magical experience for the both of us. The facility and room was clean and gave you a very warm feeling. We plan to go back for a longer stay very soon. I would recommend this hotel anyone who is looking for an awesome experience!

Room Tip: The room, 314, was wonderful !
