“very clean, very helpful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012 via mobile

My husband & I used a Living Social voucher for get away- excellent value! The hotel is new, clean, modern, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It was an easy 10 min. drive to Historic Annapolis.

One night stop while on college tours. The hotel and room was very clean and spacious. The breakfast was sufficient with basic breakfast choices and a waffle maker. We arrived late in the evening and left early in the morning so we did not use any facilities other than the breakfast buffet. Easy access to the main highway in the area.

Stayed here for three nights. The rooms offered everything I'd expect in this hotel class. They were clean, quiet and comfortable. Wi-Fi was available and reliable. What more does one need? We were too busy exploring the area, so did not get to use any other hotel facilities, except the breakfast area. Breakfast was similar to other hotels in this range, but the breakfast area was a bit roomier and better maintained than some others.
The staff was the big difference! The cleaning staff was barely visible, but efficient. Rooms were very clean. The front desk staff (especially Amanda!) were all polite, friendly and able to provide area advice for meals as well as touring and sightseeing.
Would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.

This is a very difficult review to write. The hotel is wonderful in every way but one - our room with a king-size bed was small and crowded. And the rate for our room was higher than the larger rooms with two beds. If our room had been larger I would have given the hotel an excellent rating.

The hotel itself is very nice. It is located on a side street away from busy traffic and is very quiet. The parking area is very adequate. Our room included a microwave, mini-refrigrator and wet bar, and all of our drinking glasses were real glass. The wired Internet connection was totally reliable

The front desk staff was very friendly and very helpful with information on restaurants and sightseeing in the broad area around Annapolis. The Original Steakhouse, now named simply The Steakhouse, is excellent and prices are reasonable. Mike's was an excellent recommendation for seafood.

The breakfast buffet was good, with two hot items and two waffle irons, plus the standard breads, muffins, bagles, Danish, juices, coffee & tea, etc.

We have stayed at many good-quality hotels, including chain "suite" hotels, but this was our first stay at a Springhill Suites. We probably will not stay at another one because we prefer more spacious rooms with a king-size bed.

Chose this hotel after reading ratings on Tripadvisor. Spent two days here and thought the hotel was excellent. Rooms are well maintained, staff was cordial and efficient. Free breakfast served in a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Hotel is located in a tree lined area close to good restaurants and shopping. highly recommend it.

We had a nice quiet stay.

The rooms at this six year-old hotel are clean and well-kept. Microwave and fridge made keeping and making snacks a breeze, and their work at being a green partner is commendable. We were on a weekend trip with another couple and coming "home" in the evenings was very relaxing.

Four stars instead of five? Fuzzy television picture, even though we watch very little. Cleaning crews get an early start and a bit too noisy. Not perfect, but recommended to anyone visiting the Annapolis area.

Room Tip: This hotel has a large number of ADA compliant rooms. These rooms are usually adjoining and have a d...

Stayed here for one night on a Living Social deal (excellent value). Really wanted to see Annapolis for the first time (despite living so close in the Greater DC area for the last 5 years) so I pounced. The property is about an easy 10 minute drive from historic downtown Annapolis, so if you stay here you should plan on having to drive everywhere and park.

First impression was a very clean, very modern property. Reminded me of a newer and more modern version of most of the Hampton Inns I've stayed at. That's a good thing, as I've yet to have a bad stay at a Hampton.

The desk clerk was friendly and efficient and was able to check us in early (at noon). A large wedding party was also checking in to this hotel (and filled most of the rooms). Unfortunately, they were quite noisy when they returned to the hotel in the wee hours of the morning but that's not the hotel's fault. First impression of the room was that it was clean and modern. Best analogous hotel is a Hyatt Place -- room isn't much larger than a standard hotel room but has a half divider wall in the middle between the bed and a little living area, which has a microwave, fridge, and an extra sink. Only design quibble with the room is that it's difficult to adjust the TV as far as it needs to go for comfortable viewing in the area where they placed the seats. Minor issue.

The one major issue we had (which resulted in the loss of a star) was the AC unit. Like many hotels of this ilk, they have a large unit under the window near the bed. This thing was NOISY, and awoke my fiancee multiple times during the night when it would kick in. It sounded like a chain saw revving when it started up. I also note that it was connected to a digital thermostat on the wall, which is nice, except the temperature was way off. It was utterly freezing (and I like a cold room) until we put it up to around 75, which was way off. Anything that disturbs our sleep loses a hotel at least one star, so there we go.

The complimentary breakfast the next morning was very similar to what you'd expect at a Hampton Inn. They had some hot options (eggs / sausage from a can) and a waffle maker which was a really nice tough. Everything else was similar, the coffee was nice and strong.

In summary:

Rooms are very similar to a Hyatt Place with different design details.

Hotel itself is very similar to a Hampton Inn with different design details.

I recommend this property and would stay at another SpringHill Suites in the future.
