Along with four other couples, we rented the entire house for a week. It's a beautiful old historical house and the location could not have been better. We were in downtown Annapolis, within easy walking distance of most tourist attractions and many fine restaurants. The house was impeccable - lovely decor, full use of the kitchen and laundry. Our hosts not only left all their many kitchen appliances available for our use, but even left their food. They gave us lots of tips on places to eat and visit and were very easy to work with. They even warned us about the sole downside of their house - limited parking. They were willing to get us a discount on a nearby parking garage, but we realized we could get along with the three cars we could squeeze into their driveway. By the way, the bathrooms were to die for, and we each had a private one.

My wife and I were looking to get away for a weekend and were always interested in Annapolis. We generally prefer Bed and Breakfast accommodations for many reasons, among them, larger rooms and a more homey feel. For this trip, another important consideration was the ability to walk to town and restaurants. After doing some research, it seemed that the Royal Folly met all of our concerns. When we arrived and were given a tour of Royal Folly, we immediately realized that it far exceeded our expectations.
The owners and Innkeepers, Ed and Pat, couldn't have been nicer. They made sure that our stay was perfect in every respect. We stayed in the Queen's Chamber, which is a large room with a very large bathroom and a door that goes out to a deck complete with a couch and chairs. We really liked sitting out there enjoying a drink and some cheese and crackers. The room was beautifully decorated and all of the appointments were spot on. We did have an opportunity to look at all of the other rooms and they were equally regal. We could see how this place would be great for a family or a group of friends to rent out the whole Inn as there is also plenty of room downstairs to relax.
The dining room was also well done. This is where we enjoyed the breakfast prepared by Ed and Pat. While all of it was truly delicious, they also had some unique dishes that were really spectacular.
The location was perfect! We parked our car and did not use it at all the entire weekend. We were spoiled by the weather as it was about 75 and sunny on Saturday and Sunday. After the long and hard weather we had in the northeast, this was a very welcome change and we made the most of it. Based upon Ed and Pat's suggestions, we did tour the Naval Academy which was quite impressive. We also walked around town and did some shopping. There are plenty of restaurants, but Ed and Pat made some great suggestions. On Friday night we went to Galway Bay which is just around the corner. On Saturday night, Pat made a reservation for us at Carrol's Creek Cafe which is across the creek. Fortunately, the water taxis started that weekend and for $3.00 each, it brought us right to dockside. The Chart House also looked like another fine restaurant.
We went on April 11 - 13, 2014. It happened to be the weekend during which the famous St. John's v Navy Croquet Match took place. We didn't know anything about it, but it took place directly across the street from the Inn. On Saturday, the match was held and there were over 3,500 spectators all dressed in their finest searsucker suits and all of the women were in their fancy dresses with spectacular hats. We went over and watched the match and it was an event to see! It was just so much fun to see so many people having good ole fun! We also watched from the chairs on the second floor balcony on the front of the Inn. It was perfect.
As can be seen, we had a great time and regardless of the weekend, there is so much to do and see. I would love to go in the fall and catch a Navy football game.
Of course, all of this started with the Royal treatment and the Royal Folly!! We recommend it to everyone!

Room Tip: If your are expecting to go during relatively nice weather, we would suggest the Queen's Chamber...

Our son was getting married and we had a lot of out-of-town guests coming. Our house could not accommodate the crowd and we need a place large enough for the Friday night rehearsal dinner and Sunday morning brunch. Renting the Folly for the weekend was perfect. The owners worked with us and the caterer to make both events perfect. We did all the calculations on what it would cost to put guests at cheaper hotels outside of town and to go to restaurants or other venues for the dinner and brunch. Having everything centrally located and using catering proved to be the best option by far... The events were much more elegant and the costs was far lower. We highly recommend the Folly for a big family event like ours. (By the way, the caterer was Kerri Out, and I cannot say enough about how excellent the food and service were.)

Room Tip: The Queen's chamber is the fanciest. But we love the Dana suite.

My Girlfriend and I were looking for a unique place to stay over the chain hotel that we normally stay at in the very place we met in Annapolis Maryland. It was a special weekend since we were getting married downtown. We saw the high ratings for the Royal Folly and decided to stay. From the moment we arrived, Ed and Pat made us feel so welcome and like Family. They made sure to that every aspect of our stay was taken care of. The personal touch and true excitement they displayed after learning we were going to spend our first night as husband and wife in their home was great! The breakfast during our stay was very well prepared and tasty. The size and character detail of the room we stayed in and throughout the entire house was very charming and relaxing. We plan on staying at the Royal Folly again and have always recommend our friends and family who are in town to stay here as well.

Darren

Room Tip: Relax and be prepared for an excellent experience.

First, I cannot express how truly wonderful our experience was with the Royal Folly. The proprieters and hosts, Ed and Pat, made us feel truly welcomed and like a member of the family.

We were in town for the wedding of a friend and while the Folly was not the venue for the wedding it truly became the hub around which most of our meet-ups were planned. Ed and pat opened thier B&B for both the Rehearsal dinner and a private brunch the morning after. The rooms were gorgeous, extremely roomy, beautifully appointed, and very private. Being so close to beautful donwtown Annapolis you are literally minutes walk away from any entertainment you could want.

There is a free parking deck a couple blocks from there where you can park for the entire weekend at no extra charge. Being in walking distance to Downtown, the Naval Academy, and the water you will not find a more centrally located place to stay.

Overall, wonderful rooms, amazing location, but by far the best feature are the hosts who truly make staying here so memorable!

Room Tip: Rooms on second floor facing rear are treated to direct access to a rear porch with a beautiful view...

Had the best time!! Didn't know what to expect from this bed and breakfast. Rooms were totally private and very well decorated. Stayed in the Queens Chamber and couldn't have been happier. Had everything you could have wanted. Enjoyed our wine out on the deck adjacent to our room every evening. Location was great. Parked the car on Friday night in the free lot and didn't pick up until Sunday. Walked to everything. Enjoyed all the shops, restaurants, sailing and the tour of the Naval Academy. Our hosts were the best!!! Ed and Pat answered any of our questions and had recommendations but left it up to us. Great attitudes! The breakfasts were unbelievable!! Sorry I didn't get a few recipes. We enjoyed just sitting around the dining table and talking to the other guests. Have nothing negative to say and hope to get back there again. Thanks Ed and Pat!!

My mom and I stayed at the Royal Folly last weekend (Saturday 6/22-Monday 6/25). We had an absolutely wonderful time. The accommodations are lovely. But what makes the stay so special are the hosts - Pat and Ed who are so welcoming and they treated us (and the other guests) like life long friends. Staying at the Royal Folly is the quintessential B&B experience - you're treated like royalty and you're given the opportunity to meet other wonderful guests for breakfast. Pat has a fantastic sense of humor and had me and my mom in stitches. We both wanted to stay longer.

The room we had was lovely -it was very clean and had everything you needed. I highly recommend the Royal Folly, and I know I'll be back in the near future.
