Our Naval Academy is impressive. We visited only the Chapel and the Preble Hall but got an outstanding sense of the traditions of the institution. The Chapel is elegantly simple, with brilliant stained-glass windows, each referencing a nautical quote from Scripture. Beneath the chapel is the crypt of John Paul Jones.
Preble Hall's first floor presents the history of the US Navy and well as the Academy. Upstairs is an seriously impressive collection of model sailing ships that were created at the time the larger vessel was built. There is also a must-see collection of "bone models" that were carved by French prisoners of war during the Age of Sail. The craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail is stunning.
