“Don't miss this”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2014

Our Naval Academy is impressive. We visited only the Chapel and the Preble Hall but got an outstanding sense of the traditions of the institution. The Chapel is elegantly simple, with brilliant stained-glass windows, each referencing a nautical quote from Scripture. Beneath the chapel is the crypt of John Paul Jones.
Preble Hall's first floor presents the history of the US Navy and well as the Academy. Upstairs is an seriously impressive collection of model sailing ships that were created at the time the larger vessel was built. There is also a must-see collection of "bone models" that were carved by French prisoners of war during the Age of Sail. The craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail is stunning.

One of the most impressive places I have ever seen! Went on a tour in the pouring rain and it was worth it! Beautiful and impressive Academy.

“Self-Guided Tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

It is amazing that they just let you roam around once you've gone through a metal detector. The grounds are beautiful - even in the dead of winter. You can really feel the pride there - from the retired gentleman working the visitor's desk to the MPs at the entrance.

“Naval Academy”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2014

Unfortuneately, we never got into the place. We visited the museum instead, but would have liked to have gone on a tour of the place. At least, it had the Alex Haley statutes outside the gates and by the waterfront. This is where Kunte Kinte came in!!!
