This has got to be one of the most mind boggling experiences I've ever encountered. They have regulations which state one "must" put down a deposit. I've stayed in 100's of hotels and but his one is the only to require a deposit. It's simply a gimmick to extract more $$$ from each person who walks through the door. Section 8's are there, mexicans who are rather boisterous and loud, the price used to be $169/week yet now $209 and Alexandria, Louisiana is only a small town of about 50K. Jacksonville, Fl on the beach ValuePlace charges the same amount and I'd think justly so due to the tourist attraction. Kansas City, MO Value Place only charges $189/week. Kansas City is 10times the size of Alexandria. Value Place Alexandria, La. charges if they come into your room to close the window should you leave it open. If the door is left open, WITH THE RESIDENT BEING IN THE ROOM, a fee is charged for 2nd warning to close it.

Due to lack of funds I've stayed @ the place several times. The place is not clean and unsanitary. They have inspections all the time. Is this a prison or an Army Barracks? It's insane the way people are treated.

Built with cheap materials to maximize the payoff to the investors who could give a flip less about anything but sucking as much money out of each prospective guest.

I fully intend to process claims with the Better Business Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, the State of Louisiana, the City of Alexandria, the Value Place owners, most likely foreigners who're here to suck the "american pie" yet never served a day in the US Military to defend this country.

If it sounds as if I'm quite angry............best believe I am. Never again will I stay at the place.

I'm writing to folks know...The stay with "Value Place" is not something I would suggest to ANYONE. The room was basically adequate; we had a bathroom with running water, a bed to sleep in, lighting, microwave, tv & stove. One burner didn't work, but they fixed it after we checked-int & notified them. I'm wondering why they didn't check to make sure it was in working order prior to customer check-in? They certainly examine the rooms to make sure their customers have not ransacked their rooms before "letting" you leave in order to refund your $100 deposit. They charged our debit card $100 at check-out, then told us "oops it was a mistake" then they added the $100 back to our debit card. We arrived home from our trip & 3 days later they charged us $309.35!!! We have NO CLUE as to why. We've notified our bank's Fraud Department. They assigned us a case# & will be investigating "Value Place". It is some comfort to us that any Overdraft charges will be refunded to us, but just knowing that motels can do things like this with our debit/credit cards is totally SCARY & ILLEGAL. My husband is also considering contacting the State Police. Not sure what can be done legally from that stand point, but you can be assured we will not let this thing go until we get a fair deal! We're upstanding citizens & expect to be treated fairly. Unfortunately in this world, some people run businesses cheaply & conduct very shabby dealings hoping they'll get by with it. We're not the only ones who's been mistreated by this motel. I was in shock after I read a few posts...that was after they charged us the $100 by "mistake". Now this? They've charged other families an entire week's stay too. If value place owners read this, just be notified your previous customers are on to your sleezy business tricks. You will be shut down, just a matter of time.

I went to Alexandria to take some things to a friend that was planning on staying at Value Place till Thanksgiving, due to a job nearby with a company handling the outage at the nearby power plant. A large majority of the workers on this job had planned on staying there. Although the place looked nice from the outside, once in their rooms there was a total different view of the place. It was nothing like it was advertised and promised to be. It was filthy. The commode in my friend's room had mold all over it. The floors were filthy in the room. There were no lamps, only a very dim ceiling light. There were no curtains, and the mini blinds were old and worn and the outside light came through them at night, making it difficult to sleep. Only 2 towels were allowed per room, and you could not get any more clean ones till the 2 you already had were turned in. That was difficult to do, since the worker left early in the morning, working 12 hour shifts. Since the office is only open 9-5 on weekdays, 9-noon on Sat, and closed all day Sunday, it makes it impossible to get towels. There was not a guest laundromat as advertised, only a broken washing machine and NO dryer at all. The kitchen/kitchenette consisted of a tiny tiny microwave almost too small to hold even a tv dinner. There was a large refrigerator, but no way to cook anything other than a two eye electric burner. There were no utensils or cookware or plates. There was not a dresser as advertised. There was not even a closet, merely a portable plastic shelf in bedroom that would hold a few clothes. There was no nightstand, so the phone was across the room. There was a tiny metal table and two filthy nasty chairs. One of the chairs looked like it had vomit on it. The tv was small, I think a 13 inch, and I don't know if the "SATELLITE TV" was in operation or not. The sheets were dirty and the bedspread had a sort of beaded , knotted up texture of threads on the underside of it. We went to a dollar store and bought some cheap sheets for the bed, and took the spread completely off the bed. When different people complained to those in the office, they refused to agree how dirty the place was. Some were told that they would have a clean room when they returned from work, but that never happened. A lot of the workers checked out immediately, but were not allowed to get any of their money back, even though this place was falsely advertised. They have since moved into some really nice condos that were only $44 more a week than what they were paying for this pigpen. The rest did not have the money to move right then to the condos, but will do so as soon as their week is up at Value Place. Hopefully they will not have to take legal action to get their deposit back. The condos that the workers are moving to are fully furnished. They are clean, have a nice laundromat, full-size swimming pool, a weight room, and are so much nicer. It is a crying shame that VALUE PLACE is getting away with this. They need to be turned in to both the Health Department and the Better Business Bureau.

Really nice place to stay. We stayed for 2 weeks, and felt completely
safe the entire time that we were there. We loved the fact that we could cook our own meals as each room has a refrigerator, microwave and cooktop. Management was great and took care of all of our needs and we will definately stay at Value Place again!

we stayed two weeks here. and we checked out two days early, but once you have paid for the week there are no refunds. two days later they took out $460.00 dollars from my credit card, and said they had to repaint the walls, and the microwave was broken. also they charged me $150.00 to clean the carpets. when i ask to get the old microwave they said they had thrown it away, then they said they still had it but would not give it to me, even though they charged me $150.00 for what they said was a broke microwave. when we left it was working fine. also i ask to see the new paint on the walls, that they had charged me for , they said they werent sure they had been painted. so if you stay here dont pay with credit card. because they will take your money out of the bank and accuse you of things that are not true.
