“Introduction lacking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

Based on the reviews I decided to visit this place. My hotel made the reservation. We were greeted and quickly seated. Without an introduction or explanation the food started coming our way. The dining experience was not explained to us at the beggining. We had to stop the server and asked about what the dining options were. They served a nine course meal for $35 and dont give you options for their wine of drinks. We were pushed to buying a bottle of wine with dinner rather than being offer options ie. a glass of wine, beer of water.

“Cheap and cheerful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

Good fresh food for a very moderate price if you don't feel like cooking yourself and getting dressed up. Very good value and varied menu.

“Great sea food, great service, and you don't have to worry about choosing what you want to eat.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

Great sea food, great service, and you don't have to worry about choosing what you want to eat.
Just come in , sit down, order your drinks, and they bring the various courses for the evening to your table. Don't go here if you don't like sea food.

“Not what I expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

The restaurant is nicely decorated with an open kitchen, in a corner of Casco Viejo. The premise of the restaurant is to offer a 7 course dinner (they have lunch too) for $35 usd based on local ingredients and what the chef creates for the day. If you don't know this before walking in, there's no one to explain it. We just had food coming after we ordered drinks. Most of them were just OK and almost all of them based on seafood. No one asked if the party had any allergies or dietary restrictions so be aware of this.
Even when the dishes were interesting, the quality varies a lot and not all of them are good. I'd recommend to try some place else

“Price is Now $35.00 Plus Wine Expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

Manolo Caracol is located in Panama's wonderful old city - Casco Antiguo.

The type of food that's served is mostly Spanish/Portuguese & served Tapas Style - smaller portions with numerous courses.

Previous Trip Advisor reviews mention a price of $20.00 and/or $25.00
per person but we paid $35.00 per person on Monday September 17, 2012... of course because we are Panama Pensionados we received a 25% discount from the $35.00 price.

The wines are quite pricey - we settled on a wine that rang up Manolo Caracol's cash register for $30.00 for each bottle... I am not absolutely certain how many courses my wife & I and our friends were actually served - this may be because we downed three bottles of wine while enjoying our meal - hey someone has to do it! Come To Panama & turn YOUR Frown Upside Down!

The service was very prompt and attentive. Our Waiter named Ulyses spoke English so that was a big plus -

The courses that I remember ;-)! include a salad, ceviche, indian spiced soup, sort of a chicken "slider", rice with squid ink, a small piece of lobster in a martini glass & dessert & there may have been other courses.

Be it as it may after the meal I felt very full and contented. The couple at the table next to us could not even finish all of the courses offered.
