“Nice option in an expensive city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2014

The people here were so friendly and because the owners live here with their little girl and baby on the way, it felt very homey. The place is clean and the breakfast is pretty good. The rooms are pretty standard, but definitely sufficient. The clientele was also diverse- you saw a range of different nationalities of all ages.

Mostly just positive words for Panama House B&B. Very friendly people, always happy to help you out, if it is about trips, public transport or places to have dinner. Also try at least one lunch at the B7B. the smells were really good every morning, but it tasted very good as well.
furthermore the airconditioning worked well, and the shared bathroom was always clean. I only had to get used to the matras (but I have a pretty bad back and every change in matras makes me hurt) and the city noises. but those noises were blocked a way with some earplugs within seconds :-). If I get back to Panama, I would return to Panama House.

It wasn't an ideal trip in Panama but Panama House B&B were amazing. We had travelled across on a sail boat from Cartagena for five nights and just wanted to relax and see some of Panama City.

However my wife was exceptionally ill and we needed help. They called the paramedics for us and gave information on everything. I am so happy we stayed here. They were fantastic and took care of accommodating us in such unusual circumstances. We had to change rooms but they made sure we had a bed. It took her a full week to recover so we needed to change flights and alter our travel plans.

It is near a busy street but it is a little oasis out in the garden. They keep it very clean and the breakfast is a nice way to start the day (I had to deliver breakfast in bed and they didn't mind). The restaurants and supermarket 99 were just a little walk away but the best part about it was the beautiful people than run it. Thank you so much for helping, we will always be grateful.

If I was a millionaire and could afford the nicest hotel in the city, I would probably still choose to stay here. I stayed here two separate times while I was in Panama, and I loved it. The rooms and bathrooms are clean. Small, but perfectly adequate if you're passing through. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and I felt very at home in this hostel. The Wifi worked, the kitchen was well-equipped, and the breakfast was good. The location is also pretty good - other reviews say that it is noisy, but I found it to be normal for a city and was able to sleep.

i've stayed here 5 separate times and was totally happy about it. the best free breakfast you'll every find, a cute array of sleeping options, and endless good vibes from the design, service, and people you'll interact with. one of the best communal kitchens out there

Room Tip: stayed in the casita, very exclusive, and in the dorms. all very comfortable.

We (couple, 41 & 50) stayed at Panama House B&B for five nights in April 2014. We stayed in three different rooms because we extended our stay twice. We paid $60 for rooms with one double bed and private bathrooms and $45 for a room with one double bed and a bathroom shared with three other rooms (5 people). All the rooms were small but clean; sheets and towels were replaced every third day. Two of the beds we slept in were moderately uncomfortable but the other one was comfortable. All the rooms had air-conditioning. The ensuite rooms had cable TVs and two out of the three had working safes. The ensuite bathrooms were small but also clean. The shared bathroom was clean, too. All had lots of hot water. The community kitchen is small but one of the best equipped kitchens we've encountered in all of Central America - big modern refrigerator, lots of pots & pans, some spices. There is a lot of comfortable common space and one good internet computer. The wi-fi was good in the common areas and in some rooms. The included breakfast was okay - scrambled eggs & sausage (hot dogs), toast and limited fruit. The staff was friendly and helpful, although they mistakenly gave away the room we were to move to after three nights. We had to take the room with shared bath but they gave us a small discount. The hotel is in the city center, just five minutes walking from bus stops, restaurants, shops, ATMs and the new subway (it opened when we were there). The immediate area seemed safe for walking. Most sights required a taxi ride ($3-$10) unless you can figure out the Metrobus (the subway should make things much easier). Panama House B&B is a good alternative to $150 hotels although not as fancy. We would probably stay there again but we might check out Baru Lodge which is nearby and similarly priced.

The neighborhood can be a little loud, especially the preaching early in the morning for a nearby "church". We stayed in the private room with bath, was clean but very small. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The American breakfast was adequate but nothing more. The fruit drink was watered down kool aid. The first morning the "cook" rolled slices of packaged ham onto a tray with her bare fingers. When she brought the water mellon tray out, she was eating a slice with her other hand. Not appetizing at all.
