“A must do, but could be better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

It's kind of a "must visit" stop when going to Panama City, as it's really interesting to see how the Locks function. However, it was so crowded that it was hard to get a good view. Further, they really ought to show one film that is both in Spanish and English (i.e. subtitled) rather than separate showings, as not everyone has time to sit around and wait for the next showing in their language. The explanation and signage for film showing times could also be improved. The museum part is good, but not great.

“Close to the Action”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Arrived in the afternoon when ships were descending to Pacific through locks. Visitors center allows "close up" views of the action from several levels. We lunched in the restaurant and had a table at the edge of the balcony, front row for action and photos. Food and service in the restaurant was good, certainly not disappointing, yet, not "5 star"as some reviews I read. We did NOT see the video or take a guided tour. The gift shop closed by 6:00, so we missed an opportunity for purchases as we didn't want to buy and carry bags around. Overall worth the trip

“Don't miss it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Very informative and a must when in Panama. Go when it opens so you can get a good viewing spot to see the boats go through.

“Worth visiting the canal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

Gave a good overview of the canal. If the boats are going through while you are I. The center, go see the boats then go bak in the museum

“Must See”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This is a very interesting and educational experience. Full access ticket is only $8 per person and includes museum, short movie and access to the observation terrace. Movies are offered in Spanish and English. Museum is well done to show the history of canal creation and how it works (also in two languages). Had a chance to see several ships go through. Very impressive.
