Great location, on a safe and quiet (at nightime) neighbourhood,a 5' walk from a massive mall with a 24hr supermarket and major road with good bus connection to the airport.
Friendly and helpful staff,Abraham made our stay a good one; the a/c was broken when we arrived and he gave us a fan that kept us cool during the hot humid nights. He also made sure we were alone in the dorm we were in, placing other guests in different rooms. All dorms on ground floor have a/c,however 21:00-09:00 only, which can be uncomfortable when the weather is really warm an humid and there is no other cold area than the reception lobby, with only a few seats, often occupied
Kitchen is open 24 hrs, with fridge,4 stoves, oven and plenty of saucepans and pans to cook.
Common area upstairs has cable TV and a nice sofa to chill out, with a ceiling fan and breeze running when the night is fresh enough.
Sheets where clean and water warm
Wi-fi good,albeit slow sometimes
Free breakfast is enough, comprising 3 pieces of bread,jams,coffee/tea and milk per person. More options available in the mall.
Vibe is nice, with an older crowd than your regular backpacker hostel. It gave a good variety to our trip, met very nice people during our stay.
Computer at reception can be used for free. Again, Abraham is helpful, professional and friendly creating a welcoming atmosphere at reception when he is around.
The owner was helpful, friendly, courteous and fun, he also made our stay nice

Kitchen and specially fridge could do with a deep cleaning, sticky furniture, old worn cookware, crammed fridge with food spillage that remained uncleaned during our stay
Second reception person, a young guy, couldn't have been more unfriendly, not bothering to raise his gaze from his computer when spoken to. His friends and him (all but 1 not staying at the hostel) occupied the few seats available in the air conditioned area every day we were there.
Noise, dorms converge on the reception area, our door could not be fully closed from inside and there were people speaking loud in the hall every day, often the reception guy and his friends, one day staying outside until past midnight with his friends using the communal computer. Not impressed. Add that the gym next door can be heard from 6.30 am to late in the evening and you have a pretty lively environment to sleep in.
Shower was a suicide shower above an open electric plug, right next to the toilet, which meant that every time someone showered the toilet paper became soaking wet. The drain was not well placed to cope with the flow of water, needed to stop constantly during shower to shove the water onto the drain with the mop provided.
Very basic decoration, quite impersonal and run down garden and furniture outside
Towels charged ($1), as well as laundry and printing ($0.50)
Soft mattresses that gave us back pain
Room had no curtains; every inch of our room was visible from outside (on the route to the exit door). Make sure you bring an eye mask if you need darkness to sleep well.

The directions provided (esquina Flor del Espiritu Santo con Avda 68 Este) were not great; it took us 1hr walking with our backpacks to find the place, nobody in the area knows it and there is no visible sign outside marking where it is, start from the Multiplaza Mall and you'll get there much faster.
Windows in our room weren't screened, neither was the communal area upstairs; overall a place to apply mosquito repellent generously

We stayed in the 4 people dorm.

The overall feeling is a place to stay a night or two but not longer, more a motel than a backpackers place.

After staying in a couple other hostels that were very NOT clean and in very noisy places in other parts of Panama, the San Francisco Inn Hostel in Panama City was a welcomed refuge!! The whole hostel has a CLEAN feel, all the beds have fresh white sheets and the beds are comfy. All the staff we met were welcoming, very friendly and helpful, when they didn't know something they went out of their way to find out.
The kitchen is big and well equipped, but they do need some baking sheets or pans specific for the oven. The fact that they have an oven is unusual for a hostel. Great gas stove! The fridge is cramped full of bags, maybe a better organizing system or an additional fridge would be helpful.
Wifi works all around the hostel, but does go really slow sometimes. Breakfast is included, it's just toast and jam and yummy coffee. If you want a more filling breakfast, you can easily make your own.
The location has been great for us. It's a five minute walk to a huge mall and bus line which takes you all over Panama. The hostel is set back in a neighborhood so it's nice and quiet in the evenings. Overall, this place has been friendly and simply fantastic for us.
We enjoyed our time so much, we extended our stay. I would definitely stay again!!

Room Tip: We stayed in a dorm room on the ground floor, near reception. It was clean and comfy. Great hot sh...

This place has nice rooms that are clean and spacious. Our room had a really nice ensure and only 5 beds but unfortunately no lockers in the room. The breakfast is "make it yourself" and fine to get the day started. Kitchen is well equipped, communal area is a bit empty but spacious. Location wasn't bad next to a huge and very upmarket mall.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013

We arrived at this hostel to spend our first night in Panama City. We got a recommendation about it, so we stayed here. The hostel is really new (about 1 month), so it doesn't have a lot of stayers yet. Hence, we got the very much wanted sleep (we were alone in a 7-bed dorm). The place is really clean and is located in a safe area. Wifi is really fast and the the staff is friendly.
The only two disadvantages are that there was no / poor breakfast (no bread and only 1 sort of jam) and that it is relatively far from Casco Viejo.
I am happy to recommend this hostel! You will enjoy it especially if you are tired and want to have a rest. Enjoy your stay!
