“Peruvian/Asian cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

The food was wonderful. A small Peruvian restaurant just a short walk from our hotel, the Riu Panama Plaza. The menu was huge, and they only had 2 copies in English so we had to share it among the 4 of us. Everything looked so good, we didn't even read it all. Lots of dishes with Sea Bass. The waiter did not speak English, and we don't speak Spanish, but we managed. The menu seemed to be a combination of Peruvian, and Chinese or Asian foods. I had sea bass with large shrimps, Teriaki style. It was delish. My husband and friend had sea bass, with a cream sauce that contained white wine, and jumbo shrimp and chunks of crab. They said it was to die for. My friend said she would order it again tomorrow if she could. We did go there 2 nights in a row, but she didn't get that until th second night. Everything was great. Good wine also, from Chile and Argentina.

“Finally, excellent, authentic Peruvian food in Panama City!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

If you are looking for authentic, tasty, nicely spiced Peruvian food, head straight to Mar de Grau! We have pretty much tried all the Peruvian restaurants in Panama City at least once-we never go back as the food is trite and doesn't resemble anything Peruvian.

Mar de Grau recently opened and we grudgingly decided to try it really because of the 30% coupon we received. The food was EXCELLENT! we started with the pulpo al olivar which is thinly sliced octopus with a nice black olive and olive oil sauce-this had us licking the sauce off the plate! we also had the cerviche frito which is fried calamar with a thin breading..really thin; this is important to us as we follow a lower carb diet. For our main courses, we had the arroz chaufa (Chinese fried rice) with seafood, the cau-cau de mariscos which is a cream based seafood dish-yum! and, another mixed seafood dish with garlic and ginger which was awesome.

We couldn't leave without cheating and trying the suspiro limeño and of course a second, strong but not too sweet pisco sour. We liked it so much we returned a second time (with no coupon!) to see if the first time was just a fluke! and we were just as pleased with the service, the meals and the ambiance even with our impatient 6 year old. To say we are pleased to have finally found a great Peruvian restaurant, is an understatement!

Run, don't walk to Mar de Grau!
