“Popular spot, food so-so”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

Good location, available parking, lively atmosphere, almost-surly service, not memorable rouladen.
Local attorney recommended Steinbock and, owing to the full restaurant on a Thursday evening, others obviously share her favorable opinion.
Server acting as host basically pointed and grunted first at a couple of available spots at the large bar and then grunted at one available two-top table in a small dining room. Choosing the table, we probably had 25 minutes pass before our beverages arrived. Maybe after an hour when the rouladen arrived, I was disappointed. The relleno was not at all what was expected (minced onion, pickle, bacon with hot mustard) and was a pinkish chorizo-like filling that did not measure-up.

“Try it - you will like it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2012

My husband and I visit this restaurant when we have a yen for the foods of my home country, Germany. The food is definitely authentic - flavorful and delicious, with all the traditional favourites on the menu, plus some international dishes like Cordon Bleu as well as specials. The portions are a nice size, the service is good, the wines and beers taste like home. Ask for a gespritztes Bier if you want to experience the German version of a shanty: beer and cola, or for a Apfelsaftschorle for a refreshing mix of apple juice and sodawater.

Do take the time to look around and appreciate the cozy and traditional German "pub style" decor, much of it from the area around Cologne. This should certainly keep you busy while you wait for your food to arrive.

They offer a separate room for functions, and gift certificates. You have to use the door at the back of the building to get in. Plenty of parking back there, too.

They are closed Sunday and Monday, but they ARE open on Sunday Dec. 2nd for this year's traditional German Christmas Market; proceeds as usual go to The Catherine Brown Home for the Aged in Panama City.
