“Fine dining oasis”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

La Trona has a casual elegance about it that sets expectations for fine food and service that did not disappoint. The staff is terrific- attentive without intruding and were quite helpful for our non Spanish speaking trio. All the food was very good with the most memorable being the made in house stuffed ravioli. Both the shrimp and the lamb versions were wonderful! We ate at La Trona on our last night in Panama City and it was a fitting place for a finale of great meals.

“Great food, Great decor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 3, 2013

The food is just delicious, the decor is beautiful and they have Great service. This is one of my favorites restaurants in Panama. After dinner you can have some drinks at Jaleo which is located downstairs.

“"Fusion" style French/Spanish/Panamenian cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2012

Great decor internally with a cute terrace externally. As a friend said "this restaurant seems to have a microclimate both in terms of temperature and people".

Very friendly and accommodating staff. And the food! Simple yet well matched flavors, deliciously cooked. From different types of tartars (salmon, tuna, meat) to grilled fish and from risottos/pastas to meat dishes.

Very reasonable prices for the value of the food. And a good wine catalogue, also reasonably priced.

So far the best restaurant I've been in Panama city.

“so, so...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

Services was great, we had our reservation on a private party room with a nice street balcony. Some appetizers were good but the entraña wasnt so good...i recommend better their sea food over meats..
Desserts were colorful and delightful...Great experience at the end of the evening.
I almost forgot...the best wine and champagne selection...at fair prices

“Perfect evening”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

I would rank La Trona next to many of our best dining experiences around the world. The service, atmosphere and food each met our exceeded the expectation we would have for our favorite restaurants in New York and DC. The smoked duck risotto comes in at #2 on our top risotto list. The short ribs melted in your mouth. From appetizers through desserts it was a perfect evening. We were especially pleased by the attentive service. Even on a busy Friday night the wait staff paid us constant attention without hovering or becoming overbearing. Their recommendations for wine, food and dessert were all attentive to our preferences and exactly what we were looking for. And at the end of the meal, the bill was a pleasant surprise! Dinner for 2 with a bottle of wine, appetizers, entrees and deserts was a little more than half what it would have been in NYC. If you are in Panama City, you must go to La Trona.
