Our rate of $82 paid through asiadirect.com was a great bargain for this hotel. The location near the Bridge of the Americas in Amador is ideal for exploring the canal zone and for accessing the Amador Causway (nice place for running/biking and dining/drinking in the evening).

The pool area was a great setting to have breakfast with a view of the canal entrance and bridge. The hot buffet was nothing special but definitely adequate. Our room was spacious and relatively modern. We had a small balcony that faced the parking lot (not an awful view with all the greenery in the area) but you can pay slightly higher for a waterfront room.

There were a couple of flaws during our stay. The exercise room was closed without any notification and all the drinks in our minibar were frozen and the management on duty had no alernative to offer us other than to get in our vehicle and drive to the store late at night.

Otherwise we were pleasantly surprised and would recommend this hotel.

“Great View, Comfortable Hotel”

My husband and I toured Panama for a month and made the Country Inn and Suites, Canal, our "base camp". It is a very nice modern hotel, clean with a friendly staff. The Fantastic View overlooks the Panama Canal and rooms fairly spacious patios from which to view the ships as they move to or out of the canal; great sunsets, too.
It is near the causeway built as a breakwater for the canal and which is a very pleasant walk to the restaurants and shops at the end. It was easy to catch a cab and get around. (If you walk a block away to get a cab instead of using the ones parked at the door, the price is about half.)
A nice continental breakfast is served and can be eaten in or out doors overlooking the pool and canal. The only bad thing about this hotel is the restaurant--it is a TGI Fridays, a chain restaurant with an American menu and slow service by wait-staff in crazy get-ups.

“Decent hotel Great view”

Country Inn & Suites Panama Canal

May 24, 2008

Stayed at the hotel for 1 night upon my arrivel in Panama, as it was my first time in Panama the opportunity to stay in a hotel alongside the canal was very tempting for me. The hotel is OK you can see it is there already for a while. Reception girl was nice and check in went smoothly. The room was OK, and the view marvelous. I loved seeing the ships go by. I ate at the TGIF and sat outside. that was a mistake because I got bitten 3 times by flies. The breakfast was good. In the morning the hotel taxi brought me to Albrook domestic airport which is 10 minutes. I asked for a receipt but the driver told me he forgot them. I told him nevermind because it was only 8 US$. To my surprise during the checking in for my flight to David he turned up again with a receipt. He went back to the hotel to get it for me. Great service

Spent one night at the Country Inns and Suites Panama Canal. It was pretty average.

Booked the room directly with the hotel and check in and quick. The room itself was quite large and had wireless high speed internet. The room was clean and had a large balcony. There was a large pool.

The shower temperature was very hard to regulate. The air conditioning was very uncomfortable as there was not any automatic regulation. The was room service available from TGIF which wa pricey. The buffet breakfast was poor.

The location is very good for going to the Miraflores locks at the Panama Canal.

“Loud and not close enough to the city”

Country Inn & Suites Panama Canal

The rooms in the this hotel are great, we loved the view of the canal and the pool is very nice. But the location is quite isolated - to get into the city you have to take a cab, too far to walk.. We have also (in 6 months of travelling South America) never come across such rude front desk staff. The breakfast is pretty average as well. The worst thing though - the reason I would never stay again - SO noisy!! You can hear doors slamming until late in the night, and then again early in the morning. Maids up and down the halls, people talking, etc - they should REALLY sound proof these doors! I am disappointed - for the price we paid I thought it would be a better place to stay.
