Stayed 3 nights at $54 a night.
The frustrations first...taxi from airport in town ($15) could not find the property based on the Tripadvisor address. They do however know Lung Fung Chinese Restaurant which is a few blocks down the hill (and has great food). The taxi drive also rang the above number without success. There is also a service station next to the restaurant which sells water and snacks etc. Arrived at 10am (noting that check in is not till 3pm). No one answered the bell for 30 minutes and as it is a residential area and not having my bearings it was a hassle to find somewhere to kill a few hours (Mcdonalds with WIFI turn right at the service station). Eventually got a response at 2pm.
It depends what you want to do in PC but realistically given the location you will need to take taxis.
Taxi to the canal off the street was $5 in the AM but when I got out there the first boat was not coming thru till 1.30pm so not sure if you can check before you go. Taxi back to old city was $12 so paid $29 and took a very worthwhile 2 hour round trip on the red Hop on Hop Off bus. Hassle getting taxi back to hotel in the PM..tightly controlled and they wanted $20...eventually got one who just pulled up for $10. Taxi from hostel to old down was $6 (crazy choked traffic) and from hostel to international airport was $30 in the rain and took 90 minutes again due to traffic.
I don't speak Spanish and whilst the non English speaking staff were extremely helpful that was a challenge..the lady who speaks English popped in on 2 of the nights..I think when they had check ins. Having said that can't fault the service.
The room was brilliant...air con, fan, tv, hot water, spacious...you could long term stay in comfort. Downstairs area with couch and computer to use. Wifi throughout and worked well. Breakfast area out the back was also a nice place to relax. If you want to be in the city then think twice about this location...but safe, close enough and very quiet. Definitely deserves it's quality rating but I think next time I would try staying in the old city...against the traffic which can be an issue during the week.
