“PRE-OPENING TOURS”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

The museum is now offering pre-opening guided tours at 3.00pm Monday to Saturday. See http://biomuseopanama.org/en/mondongo-tour The official opening will be later this year but note that now and then you will only be able to see half of the exhibition areas, The rest (aquaria etc) will open at a much later date. The exhibits on the formation of the isthmus and on exchange of species are very good but in surprisingly small spaces considering the overall size of the building. Mixed feelings about the building itself; semi-open which is great in the dry season but may prove to be very uncomfortable in the wet. They should probably have ignored the wildly impractical, expensive and difficult Gehry design, used one of the many existing unoccupied Canal area buildings and put all the resources into the exhibits! If so, the museum would have opened long ago.

“Not open yet”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2014

Hard to review something that's not open but man the building is ugly. I feel sorry for the city getting such an eyesore. It also looks so massive but when you wander around it's all outside space and not much inside, unless there is a lot more underground. I hope the exhibits make up for the architecture. I believe candy colors are for candy.

“I hope the exhibits will make up for the building”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2013

It should be noted that the museum is not yet open for business. But I do hope that whatever exhibits are placed inside would more than make up for the horrible design of the building. Panama City does seem to have a history of uniquely designed building. (Revolution Tower comes to mind). However this design looks more like an eyesore than a starchitect designed building.

I really hope the exhibits are great.

“Far from finish yet”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

It is very colourful and easily attract attention. But when look closely, it is far from finish yet. People said it should be finished by 2009 and now it is already 2013
