“Historic Hotel to Meet Many Needs”

Historic Hotel to Meet Many Needs

The hotel staff and owners were very friendly and very helpful. Almost all were fluent in Spanish and English. They personally assisted us with our luggage and would not accept a tip, which was great and unusual. They also gave us reviews and directions to various restaurants in the area, which we found were correct.

The hotel remains in as a historic building in Casco Viejo. They have accommodations to offer various groups of people.
They have a social lounge area with TV for all guests. We were able to watch a Michigan football game and Notre Dame football game in English. They also had a big kitchen with appliances and dining area for all guests to use. In addition a separate floor provided rooms and a party or banquet room.

Our room, referred to as a pent-house room with king size bed, sitting area and coffee area with sink and desk was very comfortable, pleasant, clean, and had a nice view from two different directions. The hotel was easy to get to and near once we arrived there. It was also close to many restaurants, including our favorite, Las Bovedas

This is a nice hotel with friendly staff. We spend 3 nights here in november 2012. The first 2 nights were really quiet and we slept well. Unfortunatelly the owner threw a private party during the 3rd night and we could not sleep before 02:30 hours... So check out first if there will be a private party, before you check in. Regards, Wendy, Okko and Ronald

Room Tip: if you want to party go to Luna's Castle, just 2 blocks from Magnolia inn.

Wendy, Okko and Ronald,
We are so very sorry. This was a good friend of our daughters 30th birthday party. She knew that after 11 the music was to be turned down and at 12 midnight the party was to end. Unfortunately, due to it being a friend of the family she pushed the party later and our night manager was intimidated by her relationship with the family. We have since put in provisions that there will be no events held here without one of the owners personally being present to supervise. We are glad you enjoyed the hotel the rest of your visit.

The pros: We love this place. This has to be the cleanest place we've stayed and best value in all of Panama. The second time we stayed here our reservation got messed up and the manager even moved us to the penthouse suite at no extra cost.

The cons:
We had a nice tour of the city with Karlos ( a driver they recommended) but we found out that he way over charged us on a taxi ride to the airport. Be forewarned.

We stayed in a four bed dorm in this hostel, which are great value. The matresses are fantastic, the sheets are clean. Shared bathrooms are very clean two. There is a nice spacious and light living area with a big kitchen. The location is great in a quiet alleyway in casco viejo, only minutes from stores and restaurants.

The location was great and it was only 2 blocks from a view of the most beautiful skyline I have seen anywhere. This part of the city is like old New Orleans. Only problems were not because of the hotel. The street in front of the hotel is tore up due to construction but worth the problem. It is only blocks from where you can pick up the "hop on-hp off" bus which I recommend hightly to see the city and the locks. If you go walk up Central ave north to explore where the locals shop and then a bit east to the fish market. I hope to return soon

Room Tip: I was in 2A and the view was not good but I wasnt there to look out a window. It has a mini fridge...

Great place to stay in the Casco Viejo area of Panama City. Close to great bars, restaurants and sights. Friendly staff, clean rooms, BEAUTIFUL common area and kitchen. We loved sitting on the balcony above the street and eating our breakfast in the morning sun. The only complaint we would have (and this isn't the owner's fault) is that the taxi driver recommended by the hotel to take us to Tocumen Airport tried to rip us off. He insisted on taking us earlier than we wanted to go (because, we suspect, he had another trip to make) and initially tried to charge $45 for 4 people, then dropped his price to $38 because his $45 quote was a "mistake" (right...). Instead, we went up the street and caught a cab for $20 for the 4 of us. But again, this should not reflect on the quality of the hotel or it's staff! A great place to stay!

Room Tip: Room 2B was clean and cool with a window overlooking the street, but did the bathroom was across the...

This place deserves nothing else but praise. We came to this hotel after a horrible experience at Hospidajo Cusco Viejo and we couldn't have been happier.
The lady at the counter was amazing, she was so helpful with everything and had an answer to all of our questions. We are so bummed that our trip in Central America ends here and we only got to spend 1 day in Panama City! After being to this wonderful place, we wish we could have stayed longer!
Please please please, spend that little extra money and stay here! You certainly won't regret it!
