“Mixed feelings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

The location is both good and terrible: great to be away from Cuidad Central (Panama City Central) and close to Lake Gatun and the Locks, but a pain to go to restaurants or other touristy things in the City. The drive to/from the City took 2 hours one night due to a stalled truck in the 2-lane portion and traffic... at other times, it only took 25-45 minutes.

The property is nice, rooms are spacious and look nice, though not very clean. Bathrooms are quite nice. There is a small nature trail in the back with a limited butterfly enclosure, which is good for killing 15 minutes or so. Did not try the golf or driving range. The restaurant and included breakfast was pretty good and hotel typical, though a bit limited in choice.

We got a good rate through Expedia (cheaper than Radisson.com). Available wi-fi and computers worked well.

Room Tip: For some reason, the ice makers on the floors are super loud, stay away from those.

“Good Stay at this Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2012

The hotel is quite close by car to downtown, but far out enough that it feels like a resort. The hotel is very well decorated, bright and airy. Our view was bad (pool area and restaurant), but we didn't feel like switching rooms. The pools were very nice also. We found a frog swimming in one of the pools at night!! Service was fine. The hotel did seem rather empty, though. Overall a nice stay.

“a gem in the jungle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2012

if you say something bad about this hotel, you will probably need to be admitted to a pschyatric hospital.
This is the best hotel in Panama, beautiful, clean, the best queen beds ever, with a lot of support in the matress, decoration the best, very modern, huge rooms, best breakfast ever, huge and beautiful swimming pool, nice receptionist, wendy night shift was very nice.
a la carte breakfast, they made us feel like kings and queens, they also have a butterfly garden and a nice golf field.
I loved the location, just 2 minutes in car from the panamerican highway, so if you want to go to any part or province of Panama, you do not get stuck in traffic in panama city, which is the worst in the country, the city of panama was 15 minutes away, city of colon in the atlantic side was less that 1 hour.
I also want to thanks all the tripadvisor for the reviews that help my family to spend a 10 days vacaton in Panama without the help of a travel agent and the waste of time and money they cause to you.
If i go to panama, i will stay again in the hotel,I was there for 6 days, august 2012.

“Decent hotel with some issues”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

I stayed here for five days this past week. The hotel is quite isolated so unless you are only there to play golf or want to spend a lot on taxis I highly recommend renting a car. When I checked in, my room had the A/C set at 76 degrees F and it could not be adjusted down. After a maintenance man came up and couldn't fix it, I was switched to another room. Room was quite nice with free WiFi but I concur that the maids do not do the greatest job. Rings from a glass on the bar remained during my stay and some days the floor was not swept/vacuumed. The room itself was spacious with a nice view of the rain forest. Breakfast buffet is included and my only complaint is that some of the 'hot' serving platters did not appear to be heated so the food was warm at best. For example the scrambled eggs and hash brown pans were hot when brought out new but cool if they had been sitting for a while. Nonetheless, the breakfast buffet was generally quite good, with sliced fruits, cereals, juices, an omelette bar, breads, and a few 'hot' platters. The hotel is close to the Miraflores Locks museum and viewing center (5 minute drive) but unless you have a car or pay for a taxi you are a captive to the hotel. I had a car and while Panama City is difficult to navigate it can be done. I drove to Colon one day and to Portobelo another day (both on the Atlantic coast) and the drive ranged from 40 minutes to Colon to an hour to Portobelo. I had one last issue with the hotel which is as yet (4 days after I left unresolved) When I checked in I had made a reservation for 7 nights. The hotel charged my credit card for all 7 nights on check-in rather than blocking a charge. I left two days early and three seperate people told me I would be issued a credit for just over $300 to my card. This has not yet happened even after a phonecall and email saying it had been taken care of. I am sure it will be fixed but this has left a bad taste for the hotel.

“Highly Recommended!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2012

Beautifully set in the rainforest, this hotel is extremely comfortable, clean and quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful. The complementary breakfast had a lot of variety and included omelettes made to order. The location was perfect for us as we didn't want to drive in Panama City. We were planning on driving to David and chose this hotel as it was easy to get to the highway. We did drive to the Gamboa Rainforest and to the Locks and it was no problem. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Franklin (the manager) and another employee (I forget her name) who went out of her way to help us with our car rental and arranged for Hertz to deliver the car to the hotel. We took advantage of the free shuttle (offered daily) to the Albrook Mall. We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and plan to stay 1 more night before we head home. It is a bit expensive to get to the airport (around $60) but for us it was money well spent as it saved us a lot of stress driving in Panama City's busy and navigating the confusing streets, chaotic drivers, and construction. We will definitely be back!

(We hired a private driver - Antonio, email: arocha68@gmail.com - to tour the city ($25/h for 4 people) who took us to many great places while telling us about the history and culture. He always promptly responded to our emails. We were impressed by his genuineness and honesty as he wanted to show us what interested us the most. We also had him pick us up from the airport for $60 and he was waiting for us with our name on a sign even though our flight was 1 hour late.)
