I only stayed at La Jungla for one night, while I was in transit in Panama City. But I was very happy with the location. It was great in that I arrived into Panama City at night, and once I dropped my bags off, it was perfectly safe to walk around the neighborhood, as a solo female traveler, to find something to eat. I later discovered the Bella Vista (the neighborhood) is about as central as they come in Panama City. It's walkable to the waterfront and to Calle Uruguay.
As for the hostel itself, it's a hostel. Anyone expecting a five star hotel will be disappointed, but if you have a realistic view of what a hostel is, then this place is perfectly acceptable. The rooms were nice. There is no hot water, but it's Panama City and many places don't have hot water. The internet was fast, but only worked in certain parts of the building. The staff seemed friendly enough, though I didn't book any tours through them or ask for much advice. The hostel is a bit tricky to find. It;s on the top floors of a nice apartment building.
The only downside is that for the price I paid (I always spring for a private room), I probably could have gotten a hotel room with a private shower, but still, I prefer to stay at hostels to meet other travelers and swap stories.
