“Great place to stay during your stay in Managua”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

Manfred Marotzke is wonderful. He arranged a driver to pick us up at the airport even though we let him know that we rented a car. Thank God, for Manfred for arranging a drive because when we arrived at the airport, we were told that all the cars were rented. Even though we had reservations and a confirmation number for a car, we were out of luck. When we arrived at the hotel, Manfred was there to greet us and provided fresh fruit juices for us. He gave us a tour of the grounds. Our first night he sat and chatted with us. He provided us his opinion which we asked for and were we were not disappointed of what we learned. He provided us with restaurants within walking distance. He also helped us with our transportation issues. He made several calls to try to find a rental car for us. However, because it was the holiday season, all the cars rented. Manfred made sure we would still be able to see the sites and he provided us with alternative ways to explore Nicaragua. We opted to take buses to Granada and Leon. The first day he drove us to the bus station about a 15 min walk. It was a wonderful experience. FYI, cost of a roundtrip ticket to Granada was US$2 and Leon US$2.50. Breakfast was a wonderful. The first morning we ate the typical Nicaraguan breakfast (rice, plantains and eggs), the second morning we had the best tamales I have eaten in a while. Reminded me of mi abuela’s. The last morning we were checking out at 5 AM, Manfred surprised us by having his cook prepare us a fresh fruit platter and toast and eggs to send us off. If you are in Managua, I highly recommend Hotel La Pyramide.

My sister and I stayed at Hotel La Pyramide on the last leg of our trip around Nicaragua, only staying in Managua because we were coming from Little Corn Island and needed to catch an early flight back from Managua to the States. The owner, Manfred, graciously allowed us to store some of the delicate pottery we had purchased in Catarina at the hotel while we were on Little Corn Island, and when we got back to his hotel after returning from the island, we were greeted with fresh fruit juice and a huge smile. The hotel was constructed into a funky pyramid and inside, it is clean and dry (very important after coming straight from Little Corn!) and comfortable. Manfred also upgraded our room to a bigger one that wasn't being used, for no charge.

The room, like the rest of the hotel, was clean and comfortable and had air conditioning, which was much appreciated. We had dinner on their rooftop dining area (spinach almond balls and carrot lasagna - both really unique and yummy flavors) and, since we were leaving at 6 am the next morning, Manfred made sure there was breakfast ready for us, as well as arranging a ride to the airport.

We only stayed there one night but if I'm ever back in Managua, I'd love to stay there again! Manfred has a great sense of humor and takes really good care of his guests. Thanks, Manfred!

We were arriving late into Managua by plane and wanted a smooth transition our first night. Manfred helped make that doable. He arranged a driver to meet us at the airport and get us to the hotel. It was smoother than any experience we have had in the States. We couldn't believe it. We out of the airport and in our room in about 30 minutes.

We also come from a small town that is very quiet. It is so quiet at Hotel La Pyramide we had such a great night sleep. Probably the quietest stays during our whole trip in Nicaragua.

When ended changing some travel plans and had a full day to kill in Managua before we traveled on, Manfred was so helpful in arranging a city tour then a tour of Volcano Mayasa the day just flew by.

This place is perfect if you are looking for a quiet place to stay during a layover in Managua. Manfred is so helpful and friendly that it helps you get situated before you begin or leave your Nicaraguan adventure.

We traveled to Nicaragua for a friends wedding. After 10 days of partying in Granada, San Juan del Sur and Leon my girlfriend and I were ready for a quiet night before flying back to the US.

We got a taxi from the UCA (make sure to negotiate a rate BEFORE getting in the bad) and pulled up to the hotel in a very nice residential area in about 15 minutes.

Manfred and the rest of the staff were wonderful. We walked to a market that was close to the hotel to pick up a few last minute gifts and then had dinner at the hotel. While waiting for our dinner we had a Tona and talked about the history of Managua with Manfred. Food was delicious.

I would highly recommend this cozy place for anyone traveling through Managua.

Being a first timer to Managua, the choice to stay La Pyramide was based solely on the reviews and recommendations of fellow trip advisors. You guys were right!! From the moment we checked in we felt completely at home. The accommodations were comfortable, but what really made our stay a memorable one was the care and attention we received from the proprietor Manfred. He shared with us a wealth of information relating to everyday Nica life, we look forward to enjoying another beer with him again when we come back. Vielen Dank!!

La Pyramide is a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are very clean, but I would definitely pay the extra for one of the bigger rooms or the suite. It is well worth it. We were greeted with juice when we arrived and it was so good. The air conditioning worked, the tv worked well and had a good picture and we had hot water. Manfred is very helpful with planning places to see. He is so friendly and knowledgeable about the area, so I actually changed my plans and I am happy that I did. He gave good advice. La Pyramide is in a very good, safe area of Managua. I would eat my meals elsewhere, but otherwise I highly recommend La Pyramide.

Room Tip: Pay extra and take the suite or one of the larger rooms.

This hotel is a gem. The rooms are lovely, as are the grounds. It is in a quiet neighborhood which was very welcome for us after the boisterous area we came from. We had some transportation problems, but Manfred stayed with us to help until we got the problem worked out. He and his staff seem to genuinely care about their clients. True hospitality! Excellent food! You won't be disappointed.
