Before our trip to Nicaragua, back in the States, we knew no better and booked at Los Robles for a one night stay. The cost was $97 ($85+tax), which is a ridiculous amount of money for Nicaragua. Most of the other hotels -- those that are non commercial -- were in the $40 to $50 range, which is more appropriate for Managua presently. As tourism picks up, the price will become more appropriate.
Nevertheless, we had no regrets. The hotel is really a large house, rather than a hotel. It is impeccably groomed. Our room was very large, with AC and a fan and t.v. The bathroom was clean with worthwhile waterpressure. Breakfast was served in the morning in the common area. We didn't eat lunch or dinner there, but we saw that everyone else enjoyed the food.
Last, the people at Los Robles were very friendly. They helped us immeasurably -- with directions, getting a taxi, using internet, recommending places to eat, etc. Managua is a rough town. They made it better. To view our non-commercial web log of our trip, see nicaraguatravels.tripod.
