I went to Puerta del Diablo a couple of months ago, it was amazing! I first went as a child but never did the hike to the top... Well I did it this time and it was awesome, challenging as you have to climb 1,131 km above sea level.
You have to wear good shoes, there are some rocky areas where there are no steps, so you have to climb over the rocks or go around them... some parts don't have any hand rails either so you have to be extremely careful to not go too close to the edge.
The area was very safe. Police officers were there when we arrived and 2 of them climbed half way when they saw us going up. So there is security in that particular area.
The hike is grueling, but the sights are worth it! You got to try if you are there and make sure you stop and eat pupusas in Los Planes de Renderos to replenish your energy - they are the best!
