“We enjoyed our stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2012

When we arrived we were greeted by the owner Alejandro and another member of the staff. They were immediately very helpful and very friendly. After our long day of travel (from Canada) it was nice to receive such a warm welcome. A quick look around confirmed that we had selected the right place. Friendly personal service; tasteful decor; very clean; within walking distance to a number of resturants & shops and public transit; and Alejandro had lots of great suggestions of things to see and do in and around San Salvador. He connected us with our guide from Nahuat Tours - Roberto - who helped make our visit great. He was very knowledegable, helpful and a lot of fun!
Complimentary breakfasts were great! Fresh fruit, coffee, juice and whatever was on offer as the main for the day.
Aside from Alejandro, the staff did not speak very much english - that provided a great opportunity for us to work on our Spanish. They were very patient with us as we consulted our phrasebook and helped us with our pronounciation from time to time.
We had a fantastic stay and hope to return one day. We highly recommend the Hotel Las Amapolas!

Room Tip: We stayed in room #2 - it was perfect for us because of it's proximity to the Indoor courtyard t...

I was booked here by a tour operator. The hotel is very small, only 6 rooms - 2 ground, 4 upstairs. The staff were extremely friendly, having many conversations with me (mostly in Spanish, although they know some English too). The room was nicely decorated, the shower was slightly thin, but hot. The neighborhood is safe and quiet. The Galerias Mall is 5 or 10 minutes away by car. In between are numerous restaurants, almost all American chains (upscale chains, not fast food). The hotel restaurant only serves breakfast, but it is a very good breakfast, free with your room. I had my favorite every day - pancakes. They served three medium sized pancakes and Aunt Jemima syrup. I also got a fruit plate everyday, and small pot of coffee which made two cups. I don't know the price of the hotel since it was booked as part of a package deal with tours, so I can't vouch for that, but I do recommend the hotel.
