“Obligatory for each Russian to feel the roots, be proud and grief”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

You feel the power of the civilization of 10-12th century that was almost disappeared after tatar expansion. The interior that is left from 11th century is magnificent as well as small details of medieval time left there are interesting. For foreigners - an rare example of Bysantine culture comparable to it's traces in Rome, Venice and Ravenna.

“Another worth seeing Kiev landmark”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

This would be my second recommendation in Kiev. Though you have to pay for the entrance (53 Hrivanas which is around 5 euros), it is worth paying, especially if you like 11th century icons.

“Sr. couple in Kiev”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

Easy to find from the Maidan, or the Independence square, and also to follow stops on the layout plan with the naration in English.
Ample time to sit back in the complex and also outside.

“Climb all the way up the tower!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

Take a time to climb up the tower for scenic view of the city. Pay attention to the "sun" instead of the "cross" on the top of the church.

“Kiev Trip highlight!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

wonderfully cared for and respectfully and selectively restored 11th cenury cathedral and later complex is absolutely worth a visit. Interior of the Cathedral is truly breathtaking and the historcial displays and explanations (most in English) are very interesting and helpful. Emphasis on architectural history is great. VERY clean as well.
