“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

Travelled to Kiev on business, had a smoking room on the third floor. Room was spotlessly clean and had no stale smoke smells like many others I've stayed in. Service was second to none, the staff could not do enough for you. Food in the restuarant was excellent choice was fab and suited everyones taste, location was good, within 5 minute walk of the metro and the Golden Gate. 20 minute walk took u to many of the main tourists sights, which I have to say were breath taking, gold topped churches and fab statues. I'd definatley go back to Kiev for pleasure and would for sure stay at the Radison Blu.

We had a very good time. A nice hotel, very friendly stuff. The location is central, 10 minutes walk from the Sofia cathedral, 20 minutes walk from the main Chreshatic street.
There is good breakfast there, and several coffee houses and restaurants in the same street and near by.

First of all - all staff members are tremendously friendly and helpful. Second - it's very cozy comfortable hotel, holding its high level of service through the years, it's a bit pricey comparing to local hotels but worth it, considering location and good food, although it's still cheaper than Intercon or Hyatt with the same level of service.

[After trying to choose a hotel in Kyiv for a do-it-yourself extension after a Viking River cruise, I just gave up and opted for Viking's two-night extension. This is the hotel that Viking works with in Kyiv.]

Honestly, after reading all of the reviews here, I wasn't sure quite what to expect but I was for the most part pleasantly surprised. Our room was clean and bright and pleasantly appointed--and the room had the tallest ceilings I have ever seen in a hotel. The bathroom was bright and the floor was warm. While our room looked recently re-done, I do agree with the comment that the hotel needs some refurbishing, especially in the corridors where the rugs are showing their age.

It was a non-smoking room and it was odor-free (even the pillows). Unfortunately, the hallway between the elevator and the room was not nor was the third floor elevator sitting area. But, we didn't spend much time in our hotel room; we spent most of the time out and about walking the streets of Kyiv. Yes, smoking is a big issue at this hotel and very apparent if you are used to hotels and restaurants that are smoke-free. The lobby was the worst; you can't get away from it. The smoker's sitting area is right off the lobby and the front door and it is between the lobby and the breakfast room. An exhaust fan--a BIG exhaust fan-- or a smoke-eater would really help.

Breakfast was included in our package--and it was a huge breakfast buffet including a cooked to order omelet bar. It included items for just about any European or American breakfast preference--museli, oatmeal, cold cereals, choices of fresh and dried fruits, juices, breads, cheese, sliced hams, salami, chafing dishes of eggs, sausages, bacon, potatoes, cooked vegetables and more.

Location: I don't have much to compare it to but as we walked around the city and saw the Hyatt, the InterContinental, the Premier Palace, the Fairmont, I finally decided that for our purposes, it was pretty well located. We walked every place we wanted to go and saw just about everything we wanted to see. It was also on a relatively quiet street compared to some of the other locations on major thoroughfares.

Mille Miglia: Out of sheer laziness and just wanting a reliably good meal our last night of vacation, we splurged on a meal in the hotel restaurant. It was expensive by local standards (and even by Boston standards) but we thought the food was very, very good. We both chose the salmon with pesto for a main course and we both thought that it was stupendous. Service was very good and the staff spoke English.

I pass through Kiev regularly and I can honestly say the management and staff at the Rad-Blue are just great! Rooms, service, management, front desk, bar and the Italian bistro are all 1st class. I have tried the Hyatt, Opera, Intercontinental in the past and they are also great places to stay, but the Rad Blue has a fantastic location and a really friendly atmosphere. If you are travelling to kiev for the first time this hotel is an ideal choice! Thank you to everyone there, especially Ivan the concierge and Charles the Gen Manager. Great service!!

Room Tip: Any non smoking room..

First trip to Kyiv, so I tried to do as much research as possible. Narrowed it down to a few hotels near the center of the city and went with the Radisson based on good experiences with the brand. My flight arrived early, and I ended up sitting in the lobby for a few hours since they would not allow early-check in. Noticed a few other guests in the same predicament. However, when I did finally check in they gave me a free upgrade to a business class room, so they earn points there. The room was great, very clean and comfortable. Wifi was free, but had intermittent connection problems. I did not care for the hotel restaurant much. All three times I ate there the food was underwhelming and expensive. Best bet is to try a restaurant in the city, and stop for coffee/water/snacks at the coffee shop which is literally right outside the hotel entrance. I would stay in this hotel again, but hopefully more mid-range hotels will soon come to Kyiv. Although the Radisson is a nice hotel, I feel it is disproportionately expensive compared to similar (or even better) hotels in cities across Europe. Realize that two nights here costs more than the average person earns in a month in Ukraine!

Stayed for 5 night in this hotel with a delegation of 9 people for business event (hotel was an official hotel for our convention). The worst experience ever with front dest. Spent in total about 7-8 hours! during 5 days to solve problems with our reservation, get correct bills etc. Total mess on front desk, documentation is lost, receptionists (talked to 6 or 7 of them) don't have enough skills to operate hotel's software program etc.
If you don't want to waste your time and nerves - select another hotel in Kiev. Most probably, we won't select any of Radisson hotels for our business travels to avoid risk of similar terrible experience. Official complain will be sent to hotel's GM and Radisson HQ.
