“A great location if you're shopping for furniture, otherwise.....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

I stayed here for two nights while travelling for work. The hotel is a complex of buildings, and my room was in one of the outlying buildings, which probably saved me from suffering more from the noise from the disco/restaurant whatever it was making that sound on Friday night.

My trip was mostly spent either at the hotel or at the meeting site, so I didn't see much to help me orient where I was relative to any attractions in Kiev (aside from the carp fishing expedition place down the road). Everything around the hotel seems to be large furniture and building material stores. There is a grocery store about a 8-10 minute walk away.

My room was big enough, but wasn't cleaned while I was there and there were a lot of gross white stains on the back of the bed cover.

At least the wireless worked well and breakfast was great!

For the price, it's not very reasonable in Kiev to expect more than you get.

We stayed at the Verhovina during the 2012 Euro football tournament so were a little sceptical at the reasonable price. From the outside the hotel doesn't look too great but inside it's very modern. Our room was gorgeous, and huge! The staff are also really friendly and helpful. It was a little outside the city centre, but you can get in easily and quickly by taxi, or if like us you're used to using public transport while travelling then it's a short, cheap bus ride to the metro. If you're used to a western European-style buffet in the morning you might be disappointed as the breakfast is typically Ukrainian (think sausages, eggs, stodgy pancakes, coleslaw...) and there's no choice, everyone gets the same thing, but it does change every day. If you want to get your own food, though, just down the road is a supermarket that's open pretty much 24h I think. For the evening there's also an excellent restaurant specialising in Uzbek cuisine more or less next door. Overall I would recommend the Verhovina.
