“Ok but not impressed at prostitution activity in bar!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2011

Soviet style hotel, clean, basic room, duvet/sheet too small for bed, good buffet breakfast but poor value overall at £90 per night especially as bar used for prostitution 'touting' in the evenings with obvious blessing of hotel.

Also re the bar, overcharged me then made out they didn't understand me yet understood perfectly my order.

Tourist office in hotel helpful in arranging a city tour, was two hours and very good. Small decent business room where you could pay to use internet (about £1 per 15 mins)

Hotel not central but close to train/metro.

Hotel lybid is nice hotel, not very cheap compared to the location where it is...but we spend nice time there...We stayed for 6 days in march 2009 and on our last visit in october 2011 nothing was changed...
the food is average...the staff at the desk not very friendly, even if you dont prolongue the stay on time they can not give you the same room...

Well for a lack of better words, the place is simply a dump. They put some attention on the Reception and Front desk but the rooms are Terrible. They are small with very cheap furniture. The bathrooms are so small you can barely squeeze in to take a shower. The bed is not mattress is not comfortable.

And worst of all they charge you 50 Tigra for internet and it does not work on the 12th floor. You have to take your computer to the front lobby to get working signal.

With a great location just across the Victory Monument and next to shopping mall Ukraine this is a relic of Soviet hospitality at its best .If u check in ,as I did merely 30 minutes ,before check in time 12 noon you may be asked to wait for 12 noon to check in .
Don't be foxed by ater bottles and tea bags ..these are provided once only during the stay irrespective to the number of days you are staying with them .Soap and shampoo have to be requested every now and then ...do not expect it ....demand it if you want .Breakfast is good and staff at reception is responsive .
With wifi not being free , you need to pay US $ 6.25 for 24 hour connection but better be sure to ask for rooms with good connectivity for wifi as it is not good all over the hotel .
Business centre is the most friendly area of the hotel ...from giving you guidance on area around to travel and food the girl can also order the food for you from outside the hotel and various city maps are available for free .Thought he website does not say so but I did find Kettle in the room to make tea and this was a great solace !
Just across under the walkway beneath the main street is where you can buy SIM Card and connection to various options at various prices .From airport go out and bargain for taxi it should not be more than hryvna (local currency ) 160.00 though from inside they charge you 250! And from the hotel come out and walk out to call taxi ...public transport is available and the nearest metro station is Universitat for which a bus has to be taken at around hryvna 2.50 ..
All in all a bit faded but comfortable hotel ..

Room Tip: When checking in make sure you ask for rooms with good wifi connectivity ,should you require interne...

We stayed at Lybid hotel in August of 2011. Had a great experience & stay and will definitely be back again next year. Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly.Minutes away from metro. About 10-15 min away from Khreschatyk and almost 50% cheaper rate then hotels near Khreschatyk. I would recommend this hotel to everyone who is looking for good value and excellent service.

Nothing special to write home about. A ten minute (up-hill) walk to the metro station. Romms are clean, albeit small with not-so-comfterable matresses. Very friendly English-Speaking staff. Cheap (USD 5.50/day) wifi available in all rooms. A 24 hour bar in the lobby. Also a strip-club in the lobby. WARNING: the strippers (thinly veiled hookers) do work the hotel bar...but not the lobby.
