“Sutzu Palace”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2012

Old building, in good shape, interesting stuff about the old city of Bucharest, how the city evolved... The museum is not big, but worth to be visited.

“Elegant traditional princely house in Bucharest - now Museum of the Municipality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2012

The Soutzo family gave the land great rulers and dignitaries. Their palace was built in 1832-4 to the plans of Austrian architects Johann Veit and Konrad Schwink. The building is composite in style, featuring neo-Gothic details combined with neo-classical elements. The interior was decorated by the sculptor Karl Storck (1826-1887) and preserves intact many elements of the original decor. In the museum are exhibited documents and art collections telling about the history of Bucharest, from the earliest times down to the present.

“So ellegant, so old still vivid place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2011

The museum used to be the property of the Sutu family, a high-class family who frequently housed balls and dancing evenings.
As far as I know, the family has later gave it as a gift to the city of Bucharest.

In the present, the museum organizes antiquities trade meetings and there are frequent painting or sculpture galleries.
The permanent gallery introduces the visitors into the old Bucharest "The Little Paris".
Very interesting parts of history ranging from stamps to photographs and furniture pieces..all with their own story are waiting to be discovered.
Also, an important part of the gallery is dedicated to the Romanian Royal Family.
You don't have to be a history-lover to like this museum,
you just have to allow yourself a small city-break and you'll be very content..
