“If you liked it you should visit The Holocaust Museum right near the Museum of History of the Jewish Community”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2011

The Holocaust Museum is in located in a Synagogue. The beauty of the ceiling of the synagogue is breath taking.
Adress: Sinagoga Mare or The Grand Synagogue , Vasile Adomache Str., no. 1, opened from 9 to 13 in the afternoon. I repeat the ceiling of this historical monument is amazing.
Note: the picture is from the Holocaust Museum not The Romanian Jewish Community Museum.

“We must not forget”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2010

With the world in turmoil and certain entities denying the Holocaust, it is important for the world not to forget what happened to European Jews. This museum is not the glitz of American (or even Berlin) museums but is authentic and respectful and housed in a former working synagogue. If this subject matter is of interest, do visit the other synagogues and also the newly installed Holocaust memorial that honors Jews and Romans that were murdered during WWII. For an uplifting experience take a tour of the Yiddish Theatre.

“Moving Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2009

It is a salutory lesson to read about the decimation of the Jewish population in Roumania,Of the pre war 165000 only about 27500 survived. Most of these emigrated after the war leaving only 4000 trmaining,This beautiful synagogue tells the sad story of this and the highlights of the Jewish communirt in Roumania in the 19th and early 20th Century.Admission is free and this is a must see/
