“Amazing experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

Loved every minute of our stay here. The location was great - practically in the city center and only a 15 minute walk to the Old Town. Rooms were clean and well-maintained, and had air-conditioning which was a godsend in the heat. The hostel had several washing machines, which I appreciated greatly, and one of the better shower facilities I've seen in a hostel. The outdoor terrace was also a nice touch as you can meet plenty of great people just by chilling outside during the evening. Best of all, the staff and owner were incredibly warm and friendly, and really went to extra mile to make us feel welcome (they even helped us to print our travel documents free of charge!). All in all, one of the best hostels we've stayed in during our travels through Europe, and highly recommended for anyone who intends to visit Bucharest!

This hostel was fantastic. The atmosphere, layout and staff make it an excellent choice.
Almost in the center of Bucharest, this hostel is in an ideal position.

The owner of the hostel is always within asking distance, and he is a fantastic guide.

Furthermore, the outdoor terrace is definitely the highlight of the hostel. It is peaceful at worst and it is perfect for lazing around in the brilliant Romanian sunshine in summer and spring. With Bucharest having almost a million drivers on the roads, this hostel provides a perfect and secluded sense of serenity in an otherwise overwhelming concrete jungle.

Just ask for tea from the owner too, he will be most obliging to provide you with some

Visit this hostel, you won't regret it!

Loved my stay at this hostel. It's great, clean, modern and location was perfect. The people at the hostel all gave great vibes as well. In fact, i've booked a second stay there so that sums up how much I liked this place.

Incredibly friendly staff and owner, clean and quiet facilities and rooms, beautiful backyard, and perfectly located between trainstation and center. What can you ask for more... I will visit again.............

We stayed at the Umbrella Hostel for four nights in June 2013. The young guy at reception was one of the nicest, most helpful guys we met during our time in Romania.
We had our own room with our own bathroom (shower and toilet. The sink was in the bedroom).
It was a simple room that was clean, tidy had free air con.
On arrival you're greeted by big steel gates that you'll need to buzz in to get through (after check-in you'll be given a key card to get in/out). We felt safe in the hostel without feeling caged in.
Our friends were staying 5mins away at the Raddison Blue so we would walk up there to see them. We felt we got excellent value for money at the Umbrella Hostel.

A great hostel in an old and beautiful house in the center of Bucharest. The rooms are very nice and clean and the beds comfortable. The bathrooms are a little small but they make up for that by being clean. Friendly and helpful staff make you fell at home. Beautiful courtyard where you can meet and chat with fellow travelers. Will definitely stay here again if i find myself in Bucharest in the future. Ciao from Italy

For sure the best hostel in Bucharest. Great central location with generous terrace. A big house with a beautiful story. I loved the old integral elements. Friendly, young and helpful staff that recommended nice places to visit. Very clean bedroom and bathroom. Big kitchen where you can cook. Tasty breakfast! Really safe and central position.
