“A MUST SEE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

This building was amazing in every way. The size the opulance. The way it rises out of the earth and is thrust so high in the sky while also being so wide... you just can't believe it until you see it. And then the fine handy work is also so amazing. There is a bit of a fee an the whole lobby area is a bit of a frenzy but I was totally blown away by the tour and looking at it from the outside.

It is made even a bit more amazing by the fact that you must consider who and how the building was constructed. It is sobering to remember how one crazy man could pursue something so incredible and amazing to the determinent of his entire country.

Must see in any event.

“A representative palace for romanian people”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

A must see place if you come and visit Bucharest. it has 12 floors and 8 in underground. The tour costs around 6 to 10 euro, but it's worth spending your money.

“Palace of the Parliament - Bucharest (Ceausescu's construction)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

This building needs to bee seen. It was finished after the Romanian Revolution in 1989. This building costs the Romanian Gouvernment about $2 mlds/year, because the Palace is the second largest building in world and the haviest one. It's based on marbel and Medias-crystall. Today, you can and I recomend to do a visit there. Actually, in the "Casa Poporului" work the Chamber of Deputies and the Senators (=Romanian Parliament).

“The palace fit for a megalomanic ruler”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

We expected a place that would not be in the best shape and filled with social-realistic communist art. In fact Ceausescu's megalomanic palace has a grandeur like Versailles but then 10 times the scale. The place has no rooms but halls connected to each other and the marble, gilded curtains and woordwork is just amazing. A lot of Romanian people must have bled for this place and we feel that for them it should be free to visit. It isn't but you can take the tour for 25RON. DON'T FORGET TO BRING A ID!!!! This is a governement building and you can only enter with a passport.

“Hard to describe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

This building needs to be seen. It is an impressive monument to a deranged megalomaniac, built in a mix of architectural styles. Realising that it was built by what was essentially conscripted labour with commandeered materials fill on with horror, but there is still a strange beauty about much of the building with its grand staircases and impressive chandeliers.

The guides do tend to stick to a prepared script which is not the most interesting, but I found ours very well informed and happy to answer questions outside the script which she did with a wealth of additional facts. If you want to know more, ask.

I can't comment on the entry arrangements as we were part of a prebooked tour, although even so they were a little chaotic. I can imagine that for individuals it could be something of a nightmare. But I'd still recommend it.
