I stayed here on a business trip and I couldn't fault the room. It has all the attributes you would expect from a hotel of this standard. Huge bed, beautiful linen; flat screen TV; good shower and excellent bathroom lighting . No tea/coffee making though. Its functional from outside - being designed in the same style as the Parliament building whch is nearby. Its not exactly central though, which means a trek (2.km?) to the old town for a meal if you don't want to eat in the hotel. Room service seemed very expensive. Breakfast was a good choice to please all nations although as a Brit with a penchant for a good English breakfast, I found the use of packaged egg mix did nothing for the omelettes or scrambled eggs! I planned to use the pool but it was actually quite small and seemed to be reached by a spiral staircase! There is a well equipped fitness centre though. Strange thing - no postcards on sale in the hotel?!
I ate in the 'Garden' restaurant which was adequate - inexpensive for a snack. Staff were polite and restrained rather than overly helpful or friendly - but no need for more I suppose. Bucharest itself is an odd mix of beautiful architecture and really run down functional blocks. It isn't calling me back but if you are going there the Marriott is perfectly nice place to stay.
