“Good hotel at an ok location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

This hotel is probably one of the better properties in Bucharest. Frankly I do not rate this hotel amongst the better hotels but it is truly ok. The executive lounge is a bit outdated, the staff friendly but not amazing. A great business hotel but a bit out of the down-town area. The building is amazing, but is that sufficient? Will continue looking for more down town alternatives.

Simply, the top choice for Bucharest! An excellent-style building, luxurious and very clean! It houses some luxurious shops and a high-class atmoshere prevails within the whole space! Spacious and clean rooms, high-level services! For business reasons, it offers great facilities including spacious halls equipped with late technology devices and accessories! And what magnificent breakfasts accompagnied by the sounds of an harp someone can enjoy! If you can afford it, just book it!

what strikes you immediately after having gazed at the very expensive cars parked outside, is the huge entrance hallway with the reception placed between 2 enormous marble stairways! It sure is a GRAND hotel.
It is a very BIG hotel, the rooms (standard I speak of) are comfortable, spacious and GREAT beds.
Nice bathroom with the amenities one would expect.
Great is that the windows do open and that you can get some fresh air.
I have eaten several times outside in the garden; simple menu (if not mistaken the same as you would get when eating in Champions), well priced.
All of this will definitely contribute to a relax and pleasant stay.

We stayed for a second time in JW Marriott Bucharest.
While during the first stay we had some issues but appreciated some nice gesture from the customer relations manager, this second stay became our last and left us with a “bad taste”.

Here is the list of issues:
- air conditioning: a pure disaster (as well as the way the issue was NOT handled). For the whole stay I could not rest at all!
- internet did not work except one day out of the whole stay and being forced to connect I had to use my phone as a hotspot (spending sizeable money for the connection)
- no way to get a shaving cream in 1 week of stay (the best I had was a suggestion to go and buy one in a supermarket)
- poor air conditioning in World Class and “blind” enforcement of the rule to run fully dressed even when I was in a corner and the entire center was completely empty
- very disappointing breakfast: several times missing waffels (only thing one of my kids like for breakfast), random availability of brownies, bananas and other stuff
- very slow service at the restaurant especially for breakfast
- more than once I have been promised to be called back in the room to confirm restaurant booking and I had to call again myself and explain again to a new person

Despite having taken time to share the experience with a customer relations manager after the stay, all what I received back was a very dry apologies note.

For the money you pay at Marriott, this is NOT the service you expect: they lost us forever.

I went to this hotel to attend a function and it is not that they have the best ball rooms, they are relatively simple, but what draw my attention was the preparation of this time of events.

The service was nice and the food great. The entertainment was enjoyable and very funny.

Thank you for your hospitality.

Stayed here for 3 nights on recent trips to Bucharest.

The hotel is slightly out of the way, located next to the huge Palace of the Parliament building. However, taxi to the old town costs about 5 or 6 lei (circa €1.50). About 30 mins from airport by taxi (cost about 100 lei).

The hotel itself is very grand, marble floors, high ceilings, winding staircases, huge lobby, designer shops on ground floor, etc.

The rooms were a nice size (4 of us shared double twin bedded room). Great view from window. All the usual stuff in room, nice shower, etc.

We ate in both steakhouse and cucina Italian restaurant and although a bit expensive, the food was excellent as was the service. We had buffet breakfast one morning in steakhouse and that was excellent too.

Used the pool a couple of times. Strange layout - had to exit changing rooms and climb stairs to get to and from pool. There are steam room and sauna located in changing rooms.

All in all, I would recommend this as a very comfortable place to stay if visiting Bucharest but we only stayed there because we got a great overnight rate of approx €100 a night which is very good for 4 people. If I was going back, I might consider staying closer to old town but I have no complaints with the JW Marriott - excellent hotel - the best one in Bucharest I believe.

Room Tip: Try to get a deal for breakfast included as it is very expensive otherwise and other options are a t...

I arrived at this hotel on Jan 1st, hotel staff friendly the Champions Restaurant was closed, so we went to JW Steakhouse inside the hotel, after sitting for 20-25 minutes we was about to order when the waitress said we've only got two items on the menu available, so we all moved to the Italian to be told we are full sorry, we asked could we sit in the lounge and have something ? That's fine went to order got told sorry you now can't eat here only in the restaurant, but there is room service, I ordered from the room burger and chips, sorry sir only mini burgers ok I'll have a club sandwich, after half an hour my meal came the chips were stone cold and the sandwich had the most smallest piece of turkey i have ever seen, nice hotel but avoid the food especially room service

Dear Guest

Please let me take this opportunity to thank you for choosing JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel and for taking the time to inform us about your experience !

Your feedback greatly assists us in our efforts to improve the quality of services provided to our guests and enhances our ability to recognize areas in our organization, which are working well and areas in which we can improve.

Regarding your experience in our Food & Beverage outlets, I have looked into all aspects of your raised issue; I am mostly sorry to hear that your evening was not according to your expectations. During your stay our outlets were opened as for our specific winter holidays schedule and our Food & Beverage Team was responsible to advice and guide our guests in order to enjoy the food, service and facilities for which JW Marriott is well known throughout the world. Nevertheless it seems that we failed to offer you this on your stay.

I would like to assure you that this was an isolated incident; we have shared your feedback with our teams and our Executive Chef and we will reinforce again all our standards in order to minimize the possibility for this to happen again.

Once again thank you for your comments and I am looking forward to welcome you again at JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel!
