“I had such a good time I returned 2 days later.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2011

So, I have been inspired to write a review. This does not happen very often so take notice.
For 13 euros you get a comfy bed in a nice big room in a very cool house.
You get a breakfast with as much coffee, cheese, eggs and toast as you wish.
There is a TV and a lounge and the staff are super friendly, organised and helpful.

But the main thing is the tea garden. Yes, THE TEA GARDEN!!!!!!

You like tea? Even if you don't you will after here. They have c.30 types of tasty tea in funky tea pots and biscuits. If you want alcohol they have this too.

The Tea Garden is open to the public and it attracts young, friendly, polite Romanians.
There are hammocks, trees, plants, cats and their kittens, a stage for the sporadic theatre/music performance and a spacious,rainbow-coloured-tent-like-cushioned-up seating area where you can lounge about and REALLY relax.

In total I have been here a week. You can do visits to Brasov and Sinai (Dracula land) or the beach if Bucharest is not enough.
Anyway, I have a few more days left to enjoy. Bye! : )

Room Tip: Obviously book in advance.

This hostel has probably the nicest backyard I've ever seen! It's a bit out of the way, but very close to the subway. The place is colorful, with lots of character. Staff is friendly and helpful. Can be noisy, however, so keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper or if you're the kind of person who likes to turn in early. The outside bar means that there is action and music till late. But for chilling out in Bucharest, you can't ask for more!

Doors Hostel is a wonderfully quaint hostel not far from the tourist center of Bucharest. The Parliament Building is a very short 5-10 minutes walk from the hostel. The hostel itself is very comfortable with a great lounge area. This area is also available to the public as the hostel also doubles as a small tea cafe, but this was never a problem. In fact, for this reason there was always music playing, which was a very nice touch to the character of the hostel. The hostel owners were extremely helpful, giving me advice on all the best sights, restaurants, and museums. Although the free breakfast was small, it was satisfying, and one of the few hostel breakfasts I've been to which offers eggs. My only criticism was that the security felt little lax at times, which was mostly due to the fact that the hostel also has the cafe section. However, the rooms have decent sized lockers, so I was never particularly worried about my stuff being stolen.
