My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Christina for 3 nights in mid-March. I have to say that it was one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in, and we have been traveling for 22 years.
It is on a quite side street, with only a short walk to the Metro, ATM:s , and shops. First and foremost is the staff. Simply put, they are all wonderful. They make you feel right at home, and there is nothing they won"t do for you. We used their shuttle service and was pick up by a wonderful young man named Dan. The cost was 25 Euros. Well worth it.
We had a beautiful large room that was ultra modern. Large TV, drapes that opened with the push of a button, beds that raised your head or feet up and down, a balcony, lights that were built into the walls and under the desk and tables, and a small fridge.
The bathroom was large and came with 2 new toothburshes, toothpaste, a razor for me, with shaving cream, and the usual shampoo, and lotions. A large shower that had a ring of lights on the shower head that changed color to let you know when the water was truning from cold to hot!.
The breakfast was served from 7 till 11am. There was fresh bread, rolls, cereal, yogurt, fruit, eggs, bacon, and another meat. Fresh juices, coffee ,and tea. There was more but I can't remember what.
As I said before, the hotel is ultra modern, so the tables and chairs were large and white, with lights built into the table tops. They have a patio that we were able to use since we were lucky to have warm weather.
We had booked a side trip from the hotel to Transilvania, and again we met Dan . We were the only 2 people in the car driven by him, and we went to see some castles, a medival village, beautiful forests, ect. He was well informed about the history of the area and everything we were going to see and very polite. The whole trip was 12 hours, and he did not rush us once the whole day.The cost was 220 Euros for the both of us and well worth it. It was wonderful. The hotel can also get you tickets for anything you want to see,.
The hotel also can provide you with a dinner special, if you want, for 15 Euros each which we decided to take. It was a nice menu with a variety of food to choose from. Salads, Main course which could be pasta, fish, meat, ect. ,dessert which was out of this world, home made, and a free drink each of palinka, which is a very strong brandy.
On top of all this, we met the owner,Mr. Calin Mounteanu, who was very friendly and told us that he has a free party every month for the guests. He asked us how long we were staying, and when he heard the day we were leaving he was kind enough to plan the party for the day before we left! It had everything, from different wines, to cheeses, duck, bread, and dessert. He took the time to explain the dishes and wines to us, and introduced us to the other guests. It was a very warm, friendly party, as if you were having it in your own home.
We found out that Dan, the driver, was his son, so it didn't surprise us that he was so nice, exactly like his father.
The day we were leaving we were not able to have breakfast, since we left for the airport at 6am. The hotel was kind enough to provide us with a very generous breakfast to go, including coffee and tea.
My advice to you, if traveling to Bucharest, is to stay at the Hotel Christina. You can't go wrong. You feel like you are part of their family, and the hotel and services, least of all the staff, are simply wonderful.
